Positive News for Browns Community Ahead of 2026 Draft as Top Prospect Linked to Cleveland
Franchise ownership, Jimmy Haslam apologized to the Browns fans for two back-to-back bad seasons.
In a media session, he said the Cleveland Browns are looking to “rebuild” themselves to become a winning team. While there is a lot of uncertainty around their players, the Browns community can take refuge in knowing that a top prospect has declared for the 2026 NFL Draft.
On Tuesday, Carnell Tate, an Ohio State wide receiver, announced his intentions to play in the pro league.
The top receiver for the Buckeyes, Tate has caught 51 passes and nine touchdowns for 875 yards. Standing at 6’3 feet and weighing 195 lbs, Tate has pushed his team into the NCAA Football playoffs. His plays with quarterback Julian Sayin contributed to Sayin’s campaign as a candidate for the Heisman Trophy in his first year.
According to sources, he has “averaged 15.5 yards per catch, with 121 receptions for 1,872 yards and 14 TDs in 40 games.”
The Browns’ offense has been criticized by everyone. Andrew Berry, their general manager, stated that his focus lies on improving the O-Line, and Tate could be the solution to his problems.
A New Quarterback or Strengthen the Existing One
“The offensive line, that’s a position group that I do imagine will have a fair amount of turnover as we go into 2026,” he said.
The Browns have the sixth overall pick in the upcoming season. When asked if they would pick a new quarterback, Berry said it's too soon to tell.
“Honestly, it’s too early to tell. You can think about what everyone felt like we knew about the quarterback landscape this time last year, about what we thought we knew about the draft,” he said.
“There’s a lot of work to be done with this entire draft class. And you want to do that in partnership with your new head coach as well.”
Berry and the Haslams have made major promises to the Browns’ fans. After firing former head coach Kevin Stefanski, they need to remove weak links within the team to become strong offensively. The Browns have requested their former offensive coordinator, Todd Monken, for an interview, hoping he’d take Stefanski’s place.
Will Tate join the Browns and get them out of this rut?
