Peyton Manning Shares Crucial Advice for Drake Maye Ahead of First Super Bowl Appearance

Drake Maye is preparing for his first Super Bowl. He just received crucial advice from a quarterback who has been there before: Peyton Manning. The advice was simple but powerful, focusing on the importance of routine.

“One of the first things he said was, ‘Keep the schedule the same. It’s going to be hard,” Maye shared during his appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio earlier this week.

This advice, coming from Manning, isn't really a surprise. Back when he worked with Team Snap to make instructional videos, he emphasized the importance of a strong routine. Manning used to arrive at the stadium three and a half hours before the game, get the tape on and stretch with the trainer, and later go to practice with his receivers two hours before the game.

He explained his philosophy by saying, "Mentally, I try to do everything consistently, at the same time, before each game, so I feel comfortable and confident as we get closer and closer to kickoff. I know what I'm about to get into.

Manning isn't alone in this approach. Even athletes outside the NFL prefer sticking to a routine to keep a check on their nerves, especially before a big game.

And if Drake Maye wants to go up against a Seahawks defense that has allowed only 17.2 points per game in the regular season and 16.5 in the postseason, he needs to be fully prepared.

But Manning's advice held a deeper, personal meaning for Maye.

As Maye explained, “It’s not too bad. It’s really a full circle because I was at this game ten years ago when Peyton won it against the Panthers. I was here. My dad brought me. So it’s a pretty cool moment to kind of get to know these guys that I looked up to, and great players and great throwers of the football.”

In Super Bowl LI that took place in 2016, Manning had a solid game against the Carolina Panthers. He racked up 141 passing yards, making 13 out of 23 passes.

"It’s pretty special that now they’re reaching out to me and taking their time out of their day to try to help me try to go win the big one. So it means the world,” he stated.
