Patrick Mahomes Jumps Ship as Chiefs Star Switches to Golf in Record-Breaking Announcement

Patrick Mahomes might have missed the playoffs this season, but that does not stop him from making history.

Adidas and Mahomes have been together since 2017, signing a contract extension in November 2025. Now the iconic brand will soon be giving him his own line of golf apparel.

With this, Mahomes became the first non-golf Adidas athlete to launch their own golf line. While the brand plans to add more athletes to this, the two-time NFL MVP has immortalized his name in the history books as the first ever to do it.

“Patrick is the tip of the spear, in terms of all the athletes we can tap into from around the brand that are in other sport categories, but have a passion for, or an interest in, golf,” Adidas Golf president Jeff Lienhart told Front Office Sports at the PGA Show.

Patrick Mahomes has been an avid golfer. “Golf has become a huge part of everything...I’ve got this love for golf because I have to get better, and I compete, but it’s also somewhere I can relax and have an awesome time," he told GOLF in 2021.

In May 2025, he hosted and participated in the Vegas Golf Classic. In 2022, he was joined by NFL legends Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Josh Allen in Capital One’s The Match.

Other than that, he also competed in The Match made-for-TV specials, and the annual American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe. The best part is that he uses this hobby to good use.

Patrick Mahomes Has Been Putting His Golf Habit to Great Purpose

The three -time Super Bowl winner hosts an annual charity golf event called The 15 and the Mahomies Aloha Golf Classic, a multi‑day golf experience held in Hawai‘i.

The main purpose of the event is to support the foundation’s (15 and the Mahomies) mission of helping children and communities in need.

Back in 2023, Mahomes also had the chance to generate a $1 million donation to charity through this event. The Chiefs QB had 25 chances to make a hole-in-one.

Donations were to be made for each shot, and if he made a hole-in-one, $1 million would be donated to the 15 and the Mahomes Foundation.

“I’m excited to open up the event for anyone to experience it live through Whatnot. This event and the cause it supports is so important to me, so I’m eager to finally get the chance to bring all of my supporters along while I attempt a hole-in-one," he said.
