Pat McAfee Reacts to Kevin Stefanski's Firing as Multiple NFL Head Coaches Sacked
Black Monday followed Week 18 action as multiple head coaches, including the Cleveland Browns’ Kevin Stefanski, Falcons Raheem Morris, and Cardinals' Pete Carroll, were sacked.
Former Indianapolis Colts punter and analyst Pat McAfee was quick to pounce on all the updates. While he talked about all the head coaches who lost their jobs, what he said about Kevin Stefanski caught a lot of attention.
“Kevin Stefanski this morning fired from the Cleveland Browns, I feel like everybody knew that was coming. Schefter was like, ‘Stefanski will be a hot name on the market,’ That’s how he was talking about him.”
Well, McAfee’s got some truth in his statements, considering how tense the environment was in the team ahead of their final game against the Bengals. Stefanski spent six seasons with the Browns, even becoming the Coach of the Year in the 2020 and 2023 seasons.
However, the last two seasons were horrible. Kevin Stefanski only managed to rack up 8 victories to 26 losses. With Stefanski out of the head coach position, it will be intriguing to see who general manager Andrew Berry selects as Cleveland’s next figurehead. As for Stefanski, there are a lot of options open to him.
Kevin Stefanski had parting words for the Cleveland Browns
It was certainly emotional for all the fans and the players to say goodbye to Kevin Stefanski after six seasons. The two-time Coach of the Year left the organization with some heartfelt parting words.
The Cleveland Browns shared Stefanski’s last message to the community. “After six seasons as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, I leave with an immense sense of gratitude. When I arrived in January of 2020, this organization, this community and Browns fans embraced me and my family with open arms.”
He also thanked the coaching staff and the players for always putting the team first and for putting their bodies on the line. Stefanski wished them nothing but success.
“I’d like to especially thank my coaching staff and the players who did everything that was ever asked of them. They fought through injury and adversity, while always putting the TEAM FIRST.”
Stefanski leaves the Browns with an underwhelming 45-56 record and two playoff appearances. However, with multiple coach firings at Arizona, Atlanta, and the Raiders, he won’t be out of a job for long. Let us know in the comments where Stefanski should go next.
