Pat McAfee Rallies Behind Jason Myers Following Historical Super Bowl Performance
Before Super Bowl LX started, the names many would have thought of for Super Bowl MVP would have been Drake Maye or Sam Darnold.
But the defense has dominated this game, and the two of them seem to be nowhere in the picture. Then who? Jason Myers does seem like the perfect match, and Pat McAfee is rallying behind it.
“Jason Myers is about to be The Super Bowl MVP A KICKER is about to be Super Bowl MVP HISTORY IS ABOUT TO BE MADE TEAM Go out and kick field goals kids,” the 2-time Pro Bowler posted on X.
The Seattle Seahawks won this game with a 29-13 score, and out of those 29 points, only two of them came through touchdowns. The Seahawks had 5 chances at kicking field goals, and Jason Myers made sure to miss not a single one of them. And who would know how important field goals are more than McAfee?
In college at West Virginia University, McAfee served as both a field goal kicker and punter early in his career. He made 58 field goals in his WVU career, which ranked him third on the school’s all-time list when he played. He also set a Guinness World Record for the longest blindfolded field goal, making a 40-yard FG while blindfolded during an NFL fan event.
Though he did not record any field goals in his NFL career. It is only fair for him to support a kicker when he puts on a record-breaking performance. Myers' 2025 season was great overall as well. He recorded 41 for 48 on field goals and 48 for 48 on extra points for 171 points in 17 games.
But it wasn't just enough to get Jason Myers the MVP
Jason Myers started with a 33-yard field goal to give the team in green a 3-0 lead. Then followed it up with a 39-yard field goal in the second quarter to extend the lead to 6-0. He made one more, this time a 41-yard one just 11 seconds left before halftime, to give Seattle a 9-0 lead at the break.
In the third quarter, Myers added another 41-yarder to push the lead to 4-0 and made history. Jason Myers joined the ranks of Ray Wersching, Harrison Butker, and Jake Elliot as the players with the most field goals in a single Super Bowl game.
His last field goal in the game was a 26-yarder, which came with 5:35 left in the game, making the score 22-7. But the Super Bowl MVP still went to Kenneth Walker III, who recorded 27 carries for 135 yards.
