$149M Rich Stefon Diggs Drops Update on Next NFL Destination Amid Offseason
The New England Patriots let go of their star wide receiver Stefon Diggs earlier this offseason. The four-time Pro Bowler has been linked with the Washington Commanders.
Diggs was recently asked by TMZ about his chances of joining the Commanders during this offseason, but his response was ambiguous.
“I don’t know, man. I’m open to everything. We’ll see,” said Diggs.
Per Henrique Bulio of PFSN, Diggs led the Patriots in 2025 with 85 receptions, 1,013 yards, and four touchdowns. He also led the team to Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks. After tearing his ACL the previous year, Diggs is now a free agent.
Bulio added that the Patriots released the WR in March because his salary cap hit was set to jump from $10.5 million to $26.5 million in 2026. Diggs remains one of the top available high-profile free agents.
Bulio further added that the Commanders could benefit from Diggs by adding depth to their wide receivers’ room. His experience and production could help Commanders’ QB Jayden Daniels return to his 2024 form.
Daniels capped his 2024 campaign with a 12-5 record, completing 69% of his passes for 3,568 yards and 25 scores.
However, Diggs' move to the Commanders seems unlikely, as they drafted Antonio Williams in the third round of the NFL Draft recently, confirmed Aaliyan Mohammed of NESN.
Throughout his 11-year NFL journey, the WR has earned approximately $149 million, as per a report by Over The Cap.
Stefon Diggs Keeps' NFL Return Door Open Amid Team Speculation
The TMZ reporter asked Diggs if people can expect to see him back on the field this season. Diggs replied, “That’s why I’m working out, that’s why I’m getting off the track right now. Always got to stay ready.”
Per Cole Shelton of heavy.com, rumors about Diggs’ return to the Buffalo Bills are also floating. It started when their cornerback Gardner-Johnson posted a video on X of Diggs in the Bills’ uniform with the caption “Why not?” The post was deleted soon after.
Angelo Guinhawa of the Gridiron reported that Diggs and the Atlanta Falcons have been linked as one of the most intriguing potential pairings ahead of the 2026 season.
Guinhawa added that the veteran’s experience and leadership could prove valuable to the Falcons’ roster that is developing around young talent.
Anthony Palacios of the Last Word on Sports concluded that the other possible landing spots for the WR could be the LA Rams, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the LA Chargers.
