“Not just a fan thing" - Deion Sanders backs son Shedeur Sanders following first Pro Bowl Selection
The Cleveland Browns' rookie QB, Shedeur Sanders, was selected for the AFC Pro Bowl.
While his performance wasn't that great this season, his father, Deion Sanders, displayed full support. Coach Prime expressed his honest opinion on Shedeur on his show.
“My son did something that I didn’t do. He made the Pro Bowl in his first year; I did it in my third. It’s more like a god is good moment. Most people don’t know that the majority comes from the coach and the players, and their selection. It’s not just a fan thing.”
For those unaware, Shedeur was not the first-choice Pro Bowl quarterback. In the seven starts, the rookie scored 7 touchdowns, threw 10 interceptions, and recorded 1400 passing yards.
After Drake Maye couldn’t play due to Super Bowl commitments, Sanders got the chance.
Despite Deion's kind words towards his son, the fans' reaction said a lot. While some felt boycotting the Pro Bowl was the best option, the former Cleveland player Emmanuel Acho called it a joke.
“How in the world can an all-pro be at the Pro Bowl and be looking at an individual who had 10 interceptions to seven touchdowns? How can an All-Pro be at the Pro Bowl and be looking at Tyler Huntley, who only started four games?”
Joe Flacco Joins Shedeur Sanders
After Shedeur Sanders, the veteran Joe Flacco also got his first Pro Bowl selection.
The 2025 Browns became the first team in NFL history to send 2 QBs at the start of the season to the Pro Bowl.
Flacco played only four games for Cleveland, scoring a couple of touchdowns for 815 yards. Although he was later traded to the Bengals, his selection counted as the Browns' player.
The Pro Bowl will be on Tuesday, 3rd Feb, between the best players of the AFC and the NFC. It will be presented as part of the spectacle that is the Super Bowl, where the Seahawks will take on the Patriots.
