After the Cleveland Browns picked another quarterback in the 2026 Draft, NFL legend Shannon Sharpe criticised the existing roster. They already have Deshaun Watson, Dillion Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders. And now Taylen Green, the overall 182nd pick.

In the Nightcap episode from 26 April, hosts Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, alongside Joe Johnson, weighed in on the addition of Green. Sharpe argues that carrying four players at the position provides zero roster value.

“It's just not enough position. I mean, the quarterback don't give you any value other than playing quarterback,” Sharpe said.

“Nobody's carrying four active quarterbacks now because you want that guy to be a swing offensive lineman, a wide receiver. He's not going to play special teams. He's not going to play defense.”

Green, a sixth-round pick, swiftly became one of the most talked-about players overnight. His NFL Combine performance has been record-breaking.

The 6’6 QB of the Arkansas Razorbacks completed his 40-yard dash in just 4.36 seconds, the fastest record since 2003. Green’s 43.5-inch vertical and an 11-foot-2 broad jump surpassed Anthony Richardson’s 2023 record.

The dual-threat QB transferred from Boise State to Arkansas in 2024 and declared for the draft with 59 passing TDs for 9,662 yards and 35 rushing TDs for 2,403 yards under his name.

The Browns' front office prioritized Green's physical profile during the selection process.

What Is The Browns’ Stance On The QB Room?

The Browns might’ve amped up their offense with Green’s presence, but they don’t have any specific plans yet.

On 25 April, general manager Andrew Berry talked to the media after wrapping up his duties in the draft. There, he addressed the 4-player QB roster and where Green fits in.

“The current plan is that we would roll with those four,” Berry said. “I can’t predict if something else comes up. So yes, that would be the intention. He has rare physical gifts; he's gonna need some polish with his game, but he has the work ethic and the acumen.”

Similarly, head coach Todd Monken, who praised Green’s skill set, will draw up plans for the QB soon.

“I mean, for sure. Because it certainly adds some value with his ability to throw it. There’s some of that that remains to be seen,” Monken said of Green. “Certainly, having an athletic quarterback can be critical to having success.”

The addition leaves the Browns with one of the most crowded quarterback rooms in the league.
