"Not a recipe for success" - Todd Monken delivers stern verdict after Browns' offensive struggles against Jets

The Cleveland Browns entered Week 5 on a three-game winning streak but struggled against the New York Jets, falling 17-12. Deshaun Watson and the offense could not find enough consistency to keep Cleveland in control.

Head coach Todd Monken addressed the team's shortcomings after the defeat. The Browns allowed a season-high eight sacks, highlighting broader issues with the team's execution:

"Let's just say this: eight sacks is a season high. I hope like hell the rest of the time I'm here we don't have a game where we have eight sacks."

However, Monken refused to blame any one person, stressing that the entire team needed to improve:

"It's rarely just one person. We all have got to take a big fric*in' bite of this and work to get better cuz that's not good enough."

Cleveland must address its protection and execution issues to give the offense a better chance of succeeding.

Browns struggle to find offensive rhythm in Week 5 loss to Jets

Cleveland managed just 197 net yards and struggled to sustain drives. Deshaun Watson could not find consistent protection, while the running game failed to give the offense a reliable foundation.

Todd Monken said the inability to run left the Browns behind the chains and made play-calling difficult. He stressed the need to win up front.

Watson briefly put Cleveland ahead 12-10 with a fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Denzel Boston. But a botched punt snap helped the Jets regain the lead and hold on.

The Browns must improve their protection and establish the run to avoid another frustrating offensive performance.
