Should NFL players care about what is being said about them, especially when they are at a precarious point and under immense pressure? In a candid conversation, Najee Harris revealed concerning information about players using phones during a break.

“𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: RB Najee Harris says that NFL players check their phones at halftime of games, to see what people are saying on social media about them/their performance,” JPA posted on June 29 on X. 

He made this revelation on June 29. Harris, Los Angeles Chargers running back, attended a Dodgers game with Twitch streamer N3ON. There, the two discussed the urgency with which players check their phones. 

“Some people [at halftime] run straight to their phones and check their things, see if someone posts something about them, it’s h**** funny... I don’t do that,” Harris told N3ON. “You’ve got to lock in... It’s nothing wrong about it, it's just the world we live in”

Harris is yet to play in a Super Bowl. He is Nick Saban’s prodigy from the Alabama Crimson Tide and the all-time leader for total touchdowns in a career with 57 touchdowns.

He declared for the NFL Draft in 2021, and the Pittsburgh Steelers picked him in round one.  After earning his Pro Bowl selection in 2022, he played with the Steelers till 2024 and joined the Chargers last season.

Harris holds a 0-3 postseason record. His first appearance came in 2021, then in 2024 and 2025.  Despite the disappointing results, Harris firsthand knows the headspace players are in at halftime during games.

His latest statement on players checking social media for news on them has riled up fans. 

Fans lash out at NFL players after Najee Harris’ halftime statement 

After N3ON posted his Dodgers game outing with Najee Harris on YouTube, a clip from the video went viral. Fans across social media and under JPA’s post came together to call out players for scrolling their phones for news about them. 

“They getting threatened for losing parlays. Not a good idea,” one fan commented about the risk of an unfair advantage this habit gives players. 

“12 Minute halftime and dudes are spending it doomscrolling their own mentions instead of adjusting to what the defense is showing them,” another replied to the post.

One fan stated that these comments don’t push players to play better.  

“I dont believe it. Cause a lot of them still come out the half play sorry even after they seen the comments,” the comment read, expressing their frustration. 

One fan put themselves in a coach’s position and disapproved of this ordeal.

“If I was a coach I would lose my freaking mind,” the reply read.

One fan named a player who they think certainly uses their phone in halftime.

“Definitely George Pickens,” they wrote of the wide receiver.
