NFL Take Major Decision on Stefon Diggs in Personal Misconduct Case
The four-time Pro Bowl Stefon Diggs is clear to play in the 2026 season, once he lands with a team. On Friday, the NFL announced its decision after concluding that there was insufficient evidence of a personal conduct policy violation.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced this update after the wide receiver was found not guilty of a********* his private chef over a pay dispute in December 2025.
“The NFL closed out its review of the matter involving Stefon Diggs and his former chef. It said there was insufficient evidence to support a finding of a personal conduct policy violation,” reported Schefter.
The case stemmed from a 2 December 2025 encounter at Diggs’ home in Dedham, Massachusetts, per an ESPN report. Diggs’ former live-in personal chef, Jamila Adams, AKA Mila, testified that the WR slapped and c***** her during an argument.

The 32-year-old had pleaded not guilty in February this year to a felony strangulation charge and a misdemeanor a****** and battery charge from this alleged dispute, which led to a two-day trial. Diggs was eventually found not guilty in May for mistreating his chef over a pay dispute.
The ESPN report further stated that Diggs’ attorneys had earlier challenged Adams’ credibility and questioned the motives behind the alleged dispute - money or relationship tensions that stemmed from a disagreement over a planned trip to Miami.
Despite the case being decided in May, Diggs was still subject to NFL discipline under the personal conduct policy. On June 12, the NFL closed its review without issuing any suspensions or other disciplinary actions.
The NFL’s ruling on Friday comes as a much-needed victory for the free agent wide receiver who’s now looking for his next opportunity in the NFL after the New England Patriots let him go in March.
Patriots Not Ruling Out Stefon Diggs’ Return
After the Patriots released him in March, Diggs has remained a free agent. He spent one season with the team, helping them reach Super Bowl LX, where they ended up losing to the Seattle Seahawks.
The 2025 season was Diggs’ seventh 1,000-yard season in eight years. He led the team with 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. After Diggs, the Patriots signed Romeo Doubs and traded for AJ Browns into their WR room.
Per Khari A Thompson of Boston.com, with Diggs’ legal case ruling in favor of the WR, the Patriots’ head coach, Mike Vrabel, was asked about the possibility of reuniting with Diggs at their mandatory minicamp this week.
“I wouldn’t say anything is off the table,” said coach Vrabel on Wednesday. “We would want to add anybody that could help us.”
Vrabel concluded by appreciating Stefon for the person and the player he is. He added that while the Patriots are happy with the current WR room and not exploring anymore, he would never say no to working with Diggs if an opportunity presented itself.
