Less than a week after Howie Roseman talked about keeping A.J. Brown with the team, a new rumor puts him on Cleveland's radar.

According to NFL insider Marvin Parsells, "The #Browns have shown HEAVY interest in trading for #Eagles WR A.J. Brown, per sources."

Brown has dropped enough hints that he has been unhappy with the Eagles for a while now. From cryptic social media posts, comments to the reporters and a Twitch stream where he called his situation, “a s*** show,” Brown has wanted out.

However, as Roseman said, "It’s hard to find great players in the NFL, and A.J.’s a great player... I think from my perspective, that’s what we’re going out and looking for when we go out here in free agency, in the draft, just trying to find great players who love football, and he’s that guy."

They need to fix their offense. Ranked at No. 30 for their offense, the Browns averaged 262.1 yards per game. Apart from the quarterback shuffle, they also lacked reliable wide receivers. 

Jerry Jeudy, a key target for the Browns, had two touchdowns, 602 yards, and 50 receptions. He was criticized heavily for his inconsistencies and dropping catches. Cedric Tillman and Isaiah Bond also had underwhelming seasons.  

The 2025 season for Tillman was marred by injuries. In his initial four games, he received 11 passes and two touchdowns for 106 yards. However, he missed many games after sustaining a concussion in Week 11 and was ruled out for the season because of a hamstring injury. 

Rookie Isaiah Bond recorded 18 catches for 338 yards and no touchdowns. 

Can A.J. Brown Fix The Wide Receiver Problem for the Cleveland Browns?

By comparison, Brown made 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025.

In the past two years, he made seven touchdowns for 1,456 yards in 2023 and 1,079 yards last year. Brown has been dissatisfied with his team and has made multiple trade requests.

While his contract runs till 2029, trading him could save $7 million for the Eagles. But it won't be so easy for Cleveland. Apart from the Browns, the Buffalo Bills are looking to strengthen Josh Allen.
