Daniel Jones has been one of the biggest surprises of the season for the Indianapolis Colts, but heading into Week 13, a new twist around his health has suddenly taken over the conversation. And it’s the kind of update that makes fans want to follow every detail closely.

Jones was first added to the Week 12 injury report with a fibula issue. He still played through the pain; he completed 19 of 31 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns in a 20-23 overtime loss. He also added 16 rushing yards on three carries, and at that moment, it seemed like a small concern. But the real story turned out to be much bigger than anyone expected.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Jones is actually dealing with a fractured fibula that he had been playing through. Rapoport also said Jones “is not concerned about” the injury, according to a source, which shows how determined he is to stay on the field.

Despite the fracture, Jones was limited in Wednesday’s practice but upgraded to a full participant on Thursday. It may not be a surprise considering coach Steichen's "good to go" verdict, but there are risks. With a game against the best defensive side this season, Jones' health is paramount.

Now, Jones has led the Colts to an 8-3 start, putting them on top of the AFC South. He is also having one of the best seasons of his career, throwing for 2,840 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He’s completing a career-high 69.1% of his passes and has a 101.4 passer rating, the best he’s ever recorded.

Because of all this, Jones’ injury is something everyone needs to watch closely. The Colts’ playoff push may depend on how well he can manage the fractured fibula while continuing his strong play. His status for Week 13 and the rest of the season will remain a major storyline.
