The Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins are reportedly targeting a new quarterback. GM Andrew Berry had already said they would be looking in the QB market, making Shedeur Sanders' bid to become the franchise quarterback more uncertain.

KDKA TV Sports Director Bob Pompeani posted on X that both the Browns and Miami Dolphins are interested in a 26-year-old Green Bay Packers QB.

"Per@JasonLaCanfora Both the #Browns and #Dolphins are two of the most interested teams in QB Malik Willis in free agency. The speculation could be a deal similar to Justin Fields 2-years, 40 Million (30 Guaranteed)..." Pompeani wrote on X.

Willis originally signed a 4-year rookie deal worth about $5,160,100 total after being drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2022. The Titans traded him to the Packers in 2024, where he has been their backup quarterback behind Jordan Love.

The Browns did not have a successful season with Shedeur Sanders and Dillion Gabriel as their quarterbacks. Deshaun Watson hasn't been fruitful either. The Dolphins have faced similar issues with Tua Tagovailoa.

Fans have made comments like, "Browns ain't paying a guy who has 56 less passes than Shedeur 20 mill+ dollars". Shedeur Sanders had 212 pass attempts in 2025, while Willis just made 35. However, as a backup, fan opinion on his potential remains divided.

A fan said, "Yeah that’s way too much for 1 freaking start". Willis had one game as a starter this season, which was against the Ravens on December 27. The Packers lost it 24-41 on the scorecard.

Another fan said, "This aint real, why would the browns get him. You paying Watson 46 mil. You gon pay another guy 20 mil a year to compete for the job and lose. Thats stupid." As per Watson's contract, he is set to receive a minimum salary of $46 million in 2026.

Paying $20 million to another quarterback will hit their cap, so one fan said, "Neither franchise has the money to entertain this". Another comment said, "Cleveland? They have a 2nd year, elite Pro Bowl QB in Sanders."

Shedeur Sanders had a passer rating of 68.1 with 1,400 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 8 games in 2025. Would you take Malik Willis over him? Or would you go with Dillon Gabriel or Deshaun Watson?
