NFL Fans React After Vikings Fire GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah After Four Seasons

After four rough seasons, the Minnesota Vikings fired their general manager, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, after missing the playoffs with a 9-8 record.

As the team's gamble on a rookie quarterback backfired, another former Vikings QB is heading to the Super Bowl adding salt to the wound.

In a statement, franchise owners Mark and Zygi Wilf thanked their former employee for his efforts.

"It is in the best interest of the team to move forward with new leadership of our football operations. Building a team that can contend for championships drives us every day," the owners said during a virtual press conference on Friday.

"These decisions are never easy. We are grateful for Kwesi's contributions and commitment to the organization over the past four years and wish him and his family the best in the future," they added.

Meanwhile, after NFL expert Ari Meirov posted on X informing fans of management's decision, his comment section was instantly flooded with criticism.

The fans mostly directed thier fury at franchise QB J.J. McCarthy for the turn of events.

However, Vikings Fans Didn’t Just Call Out the QB

Two X users straight up went for McCarthy and held him responsible for the turn of events. One post said, "Got his GM fired after 1 year on the field. Nine really is a demon." Meanwhile, the other chimed in to say, "NINE NEEDS A GENERAL MANAGER."

Drafted by the Vikings in the first round, the 23-year-old has been a massive letdown. In the 10 games he's played in an injury-ridden season, McCarthy threw 11 touchdowns for 1,632 yards and was intercepted 12 times. Moreover, he managed to get sacked a whopping 27 times.

Meanwhile, Sam Darnold is thriving after joining the Seattle Seahawks. He will face the New England Patriots vying for the Lombardi Trophy in just a few days.

Which is why some fans reacted to the news by alluding that the Vikings certainly regretted dismissing Darnold. One reply said that the "Vikings brass saw Sam Darnold lead the Seahawks to the Super Bowl and immediately pushed the button."

Darnold powered his team in the NFC Championship game with three touchdowns and a completion rate of 69.4%. And the Vikings could only watch it unfold.

Another fan pointedly commented that "Sam Darnold sends his regards." After the draft, they let Dranold walk into free agency despite his stellar performance in the 2024 season.

He threw 35 touchdowns for 4,319 yards in a 14-3 season. The decision to let Darnold leave prompted another X user to write, "Darnold left and took Kwesi's job with him."

Now, a Seahawks quarterback, Darnold, had a completion rate of 67.7 percent and threw 25 touchdowns for 4,048 yards in 2025.

With Adofo-Mensah gone, the Vikings have turned to Rob Brzezinski, their Executive Vice President of Football Operations, to manage the franchise till the 2026 NFL Draft.
