NFL Fans Mock Todd Monken Over Shedeur Sanders Statement At 2026 NFL Combine

The 2026 NFL Combine is underway, and the Browns' head coach and general manager were both present there.
However, Todd Monken has sparked quite a reaction from fans with his comments about Shedeur Sanders.
Reporters asked the Browns head coach about his likeability of mobile quarterbacks. He had worked with Lamar Jackson for 2 years, one of the league's most mobile QBs. Yet Sanders surprised him:
“I think you see that on tape. Shedeur surprised me a little bit in terms of his… Mobile might be, but he's got a knack. He's got a feel. Like he does in playmaking…He has a real sense in the pocket when it starts to collapse, moving around the pocket.”
We have seen the 24-year-old use his legs this season. He had rushed for 169 yards and one rushing touchdown in the 2025 season.
But fans are not happy with Monken's words. "Wow…. This is certainly a development. We aren’t getting another QB," a fan said sarcastically.
Monken's not wrong, though. Sanders has shown a little spark with his legs. In the week 12 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, flushed out of the pocket, rolled to his right, and threw a completion on the run to receiver Isaiah Bond for a long pass.
The ball went over for 52 yards, right into the hands of Bond, who carried to the 2-yard line. On the next snap, the Browns recorded a touchdown. That is also the longest pass thrown by a Browns QB in the 2025 season.
But the fans have mocked Monken for his words.
Todd Monken Criticized for His Shedeur Sanders Statement
One fan said, "A real sense of how to get sacked".
He directly took a hit at Sanders, getting sacked 23 times in just 8 games. While the Browns' OL was bad, the 24-year-old QB also took a lot of time to throw the ball.
"He obvoiusly didnt see the 3 sack gm .. lol" another comment read.
The San Francisco 49ers sacked Sanders 3 times in their regular season game. The 49ers gave a humiliating defeat to the Browns with a 26-8 scorecard.
"He’s surprises me how he throws picks so often in zone coverage. Maybe Monken can teach him to read zone", a user said.
The Browns QB had thrown 10 interceptions in just 8 games in his rookie season. That has been one of his biggest critics.
One fan also said, "Still haven't heard him say a word on Dillon Gabriel 🤣". And that is true, Monken has still yet talked about Gabriel directly.
