NFL Fans Mock Jets HC Aaron Glenn After Bold Geno Smith Super Bowl Statement

Quarterback Geno Smith had reunited with the New York Jets, and head coach Aaron Glenn couldn’t be happier. However, his bold statements on Smith’s caliber and Super Bowl Championship have not fared well.
On Wednesday, Dov Kleiman in an X post reported Glenn’s belief in Smith, who he thinks will lead the Jets to the Super Bowl in 2026.
“I just feel like he's the guy that's gonna lead us to the promised land,” Glenn stated confidently during the NFL Annual League Meeting in Phoenix.
He argued that Smith has secured the Jets’ offense and evolved since his initial years with the franchise.
“Listen, he's proven a lot in this league of what he's done, especially when you take those time when he was in Seattle. Listen, he fits exactly what we're trying to do, so obviously we've created an identity. The foundation of our offense is pretty good now.”
Smith was drafted by the Jets in 2013 and remained for another four tumultuous seasons. In his rookie year, he scored 12 touchdowns against 21 interceptions, and in the 2014 season, he threw 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
In the remaining two seasons, Smith played a total of three games and scored three touchdowns before he was eventually shown the exit.
After stints with the Giants and Chargers, Smith revived his career in Seattle, throwing 76 touchdowns for 12,929 yards between 2021 and 2024. However, the 35-year-old was displaced when the Seahawks signed Sam Darnold to a massive $100.5 million contract in March 2025.
This move paid off immediately, as the franchise secured its second-ever Super Bowl championship with Darnold leading the way.
After exiting the Seahawks, Smith played for the Las Vegas Raiders and scored 19 touchdowns for 3,025 yards. This would be an impressive performance if fans could look past the 17 interceptions he threw.
Since his debut, Smith has remained an unpredictable quarterback who oscillates between decent and awful performances. And fans don’t trust him.
Embarrassed Jets Fans Lashed Out Against Aaron Glenn
Some angry fans were hung up on his confidence in Smith and commented that Glenn should not be making such claims.
“Mr. Glenn, please stop talking,” one wrote. This comment was followed by two others that questioned the wisdom and intention behind Glenn’s statements.
“Aaron Glenn is still an Idiot! Promised Land??? He has no clue. #NewYorkPost #NFL.”
“Aaron Glenn is either delusional or saying what he must,” another replied.
One X user asked whether Glenn thinks he could get away with insulting Jets fans by comparing the reigning champion with Smith.
“Please take the mic away from Aaron, comparing Geno to the top QBs at the nfl at the end (not to mention the alleged SB talk) is beyond foolish and an insult to every jet fan’s intelligence,” they wrote.
