NFL Fans Mock Deion Sanders After Bold Statement Over Shedeur Sanders
Deion Sanders, former NFL player and Shedeur Sanders’ father, is under fire after his recent comments about his son, Shedeur Sanders, went viral.
On Friday, Awful Announcing shared a snippet of Deion Sanders’ appearance on the show First Take on X.
In the episode, the two-time Super Bowl Champion claimed that his son, who was named a Pro Bowler after playing one season with the Browns, shut down his critics.
“All the bulljunk they was putting out on him this time last year, where has that gone? Because he’s a true leader, he’s a bona fide baller, he can play,” the Hall of Famer said.
However the comments under Awful Announcing’s X post didn't agree with Deion Sanders and called out Shedeur Sanders' underwhelming performance in his rookie year.
Fans Picked Apart Deion Sanders' Statement
One user commented, “Every father should support their son in this manner. Even if they are below average lol,” which was followed by “No bias at all I guess lol.”
Even before transferring to the University of Colorado, Shedeur, who attended Jackson State University, played under his father, the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes.
Shedeur then followed his father’s footsteps into the pro league. X users also brought up Shedeur’s 2025 performance. One asked about his rating and wrote, “What was his QBR? 20? 18?”
His quarterback rating (QBR) is 18.9 and is deemed one of the lowest for a starting QB who has made at least six starts in a season. And Shedeur has played in eight games.

On the same lines as the previous comment, another one pointed out the Shedeur’s touchdown-to-interception ratio. “7TD, 10INT. A true baller,” the fan commented.
One X user, fed up with the repetitive shots of his plays, commented, “Bull-junk… from Shedeur’s Dad. It’s understandable but still bull-junk. PS: love how ESPN kept showing 3 out of Shedeur’s 3 best throws. Pathetic.”
However, Deion Sanders is well aware that his son has a longway to go. Sanders shared that he advised Shedeur to keep working even if the Cleveland Browns’ head coach, Todd Monken, has not committed to him as the starting quarterback.
“Work. Work, that’s the way you win everything in life. I ain’t never seen somebody that don’t wanna work win. That’s the seed for people to become successful. He’s a worker. He’s a bona fide worker,” Coach Deion said about Shedeur.
However, the 23-year-old has won only three games out of the eight he played in. With Monken at the helm and the Browns determined to fix their offense, the youngster's starting QB position is not secured yet..
Deion’s faith in his son is touching, but is he misplacing it? What is your take? Tell us in the comments.
