NFL Fans Left Concerned After Major Blow Puts Seahawks Super Bowl Hopes at Risk
The Seattle Seahawks' Super Bowl hopes are in question. Star safety Nick Emmanwori suffered an ankle injury just days before the game against the Patriots. His status is now the biggest concern for the league's top defense.
An X post from Dov Kleiman stated Emmanwori, who is deemed questionable on the injury report, called his potential absence a “major loss” after an ankle injury.
“Seahawks star DB Nick Emmanwori was caught limping to his hotel after suffering an ankle injury in practice on Wednesday. Emmanwori might not be able to play in the Super Bowl. A potential major loss for Seattle.”
According to Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald, the safety had a low ankle sprain and missed practice on Thursday. However, Macdonald expects him to be available for the big game.
"Fully expect him to play. He's doing great and moving around, just gotta make sure we handle it the right way."
Interestingly, the last time Emmanwori was out with an injury was back in Week 2, with another ankle injury. It took him three weeks to return. Perhaps it's why fans were extremely worried.
The Seahawks Need Him on the Field
One X user stated this injury would rob them of a good game despite being a Patriots fan.
“I’m a Pats fan, and it s**** if Nick Emmanwori isn’t able to go on Sunday .. yes, a big hit to the Seahawks, and a bummer if you’re looking for a great game .. these are two well matched teams, and it should be closely contested.”
And true enough, the rookie has been an asset for the Seahawks, who are the best defensive team in the league. The 21-year-old has played 14 games in the 2025 season and recorded 56 solo tackles. He made one interception and 2.5 sacks.
That's why one fan commented, “Emmanwori better tape that ankle to his soul cuz Seattle NEEDS him Sunday. Rookie of the Year finalist can't sit this one out.”
Emmanwori’s consistent success with the Seahawks even got him a Defensive Rookie of the Year nomination. And while Carson Schweisinger closely beat him out, making it to the list was a big achievement.
That's why one fan added, "Still a few days to go. Hoping for the best." And that might be the case, considering coach Macdonald expects him to be ready.
That's where one fan chimed in, saying, "He is fine. If it was anything bad it would be in a boot or brace."
And sure enough, Emmanwori agreed. “Just a little mishap that happened. Just rolled my ankle, I just didn’t finish practice, that was it. I expect to play on Sunday. Feel good. Training staff have a good plan for me. Everything good, making sure I’m just rehabbing good,” he said.
Like Emmanwori, his fan also downplayed the situation and joked that, “He probably was sitting in the car too long.”
The rookie is clearly a fan favorite and also adored in the opponent’s fan base. With Super Bowl LX scheduled this Sunday, he needs all the rest and support he can get.
