NFL Daily Roundup: Are Tomlin & Steelers Parting Ways, Potential Bellechik Return, And Much More
The NFL world is buzzing, and we’ve got all the twists you’ll want to hear. Week 12 could have not been anymore exciting. And we're not talking about Shedeur Sanders' win. There's bigger things playing out, with suspensions, possible legendary coaches both coming back to and leaving their teams, and much more!
Panthers Star Suspended Over Altercation
Carolina Panthers safety Tre'von Moehrig has been suspended for one game without pay after he punched 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings during the fourth quarter of Monday’s matchup. The NFL said the punch clearly violated violating Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1 that applies to, "any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship." If the decision is upheld, Moehrig will miss the Panthers’ Nov. 30 game against the Rams and can return on Dec. 1.
Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Moehrig can appeal the suspension, and that appeal would go to one of the NFL’s hearing officers, Derrick Brooks, Ramon Foster, or Jordy Nelson. Their ruling would determine whether the punishment stays in place or gets reduced. Until then, the Panthers and their fans wait to see what Moehrig chooses to do next.
Rumor Alert: Tomlin & Steelers Parting Ways!?
Here’s the latest chatter around the NFL: Insider Josina Anderson dropped a hint that a longtime head coach might be ready for a change. Taking to X, Anderson wrote, "There's is a longtime NFL head coach out there who is considering wanting a change of scenery & has told others of these thoughts. If he acts on those lingering feelings, his departure would clearly add to the list of vacancies."
Some think it might be Mike Tomlin. Nineteen seasons guiding the Steelers is nothing short of remarkable, but the team hasn’t won a playoff game since 2016. Also, this season, sitting at 6-5, with what looks like a middling squad fans have gotten used to.
Since that Super Bowl run in 2010, the Steelers have managed just three playoff wins, leaving fans and maybe even the franchise itself with the sense that both sides may have reached their limits together.
Is a Bill Belichick Return on the Cards?
The legendary Bill Belichick is making his mark in college football, leading the Tar Heels in his first season. This Saturday, UNC faces rival NC State in a matchup fans are eagerly anticipating. The Tar Heels have struggled this season, sitting at 4-7 and missing bowl eligibility, making Belichick’s inaugural year more about growing pains than victories.
Speculation about an NFL return lingers. NFL insider Josina Anderson reported, "I'm told "at least two NFL teams" are still* expected to have interest in talking to Bill Belichick, behind-the-scenes* at the very least, about head coach jobs this Carousel season, per a league source."

Despite the challenges, Belichick has made it clear he’s committed to UNC, saying in October, “I’m fully committed to UNC Football and the program we’re building here.” Rumors of the buyout were quickly dismissed by Belichick and UNC athletic director Bubba Cunningham, who reiterated the university’s stance and said, “Coach Belichick has the full support of the Department of Athletics and the University.”
Belichick’s legacy is undeniable. As the leader of one of the NFL’s greatest dynasties, he led the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl victories. Whether he continues building the Tar Heels program or explores NFL opportunities, fans and analysts alike will be watching every move closely.
NFL VP Explains Cowboys-Eagles Controversy
If you watched the Cowboys beat the Eagles 24–21, you probably felt how messy that first quarter was. Dallas fell behind 0-21, and one blown call made the start even worse. Here's what happened.
After the Eagles scored early, they had to punt on their next drive. Ryan Flournoy sprinted in to block the kick and lightly touched the ball with his fingertip before running into punter Braden Mann. The refs quickly threw a roughing-the-kicker flag. Flournoy kept saying he touched the ball, and replays later showed he was right. The NFL rulebook says that if the ball is touched, the penalty should be erased. But no one challenged the call, and the replay center didn’t help either.
Later, when ESPN’s Todd Archer spoke with Mark Butterworth, the NFL’s vice president of instant replay, "I think a play or two later, TV showed an enhanced shot, which they can do. We don’t have access to that enhanced shot until they show it. By then, it was too late. If we would have had that shot previously, we would have been able to assist prior to the ball being snapped."
With suspensions, coaching rumors, and replay controversies shaking the league, the NFL landscape feels unpredictable. So, here’s the question for you, the fans: How would you react if Tomlin left Pittsburgh, Belichick returned to the NFL, or another blown call changed a game’s fate? Let us know in the comments!
