NFL Community Left Mourning After Rondale Moore's Tragic Passing

Former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Rondale Moore has tragically passed away at the age of 25. And while the investigation is ongoing, the NFL community is in mourning

The Floyd County Coroner's Office revealed he was found dead in a garage. Meanwhile, the New Albany Police Department chief, Todd Bailey, has revealed that an autopsy has been planned for Thursday.

Jeff Brohm, who worked with Moore at Purdue, was among the first to express his feelings about the 25-year-old's passing. "We all loved Rondale; we loved his smile and his competitive edge that always wanted to please everyone he came in contact with," said the current Louisville coach.

Born on June 9, 2000, Rondale Moore was a standout in basketball, track, and football in high school before winning a football scholarship to Purdue.

As a freshman in 2018, Moore had 114 catches for 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was also named a first-team All-American. And he didn't fail to impress in the NFL as well.

The Arizona Cardinals selected him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft (49th overall). There, he played with legends like J.J. Watt, who is among the many mourning Moore's untimely passing.

The Community Mourned Rondale Moore

Three-time defensive player of the year J.J. Watt wrote: “Can’t even begin to fathom or process this. There’s just no way. Way too soon. Way too special. So much left to give. Rest in Peace, Rondale.”

Watt, who had seen Rondale Moore struggle with injuries, had once advised the 25-year-old to never give up in his career. Meanwhile, Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell also made a statement.

“We are all heartbroken by the fact he won’t continue to live out his NFL dream, and we won’t all have a chance to watch him flourish. My prayers are with Rondale’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches as we all deal with this tragic news," wrote O'Connell.

The 25-year-old had signed a one-year contract with the Vikings for the 2025 season. However, he suffered a season-ending knee injury in a preseason game and missed the entire season.

A fan said, "Heartbreaking. What emotional support is given to injured athletes? I keep thinking about athletes who lose their positions due to injuries, etc. Do they continue to have health insurance & access to mental health services?"

Another fan commented, "Moore had two season-ending injuries with two separate teams. That’s tough on a young man who came to NFL with a lot of talent and hope. This tragedy should not have happened. Should NFL care more for their players who retire hurt at a young age? Really feel for his family. RIP Rondale ."

Moore could not play in the 2024 season as well because of a knee injury he suffered during training camp. "Man… 25 is way too young. Rest easy, Rondale. Prayers up for his family, teammates, and everyone who knew him." a comment said.

Just as the community was building momentum for the upcoming season after Super Bowl 60, Moore's passing has left everyone stunned.
