NFL Broadcaster Makes Major Josh Allen Blunder on Live TV During Divisional Playoffs
While the Kansas City Chiefs may be out of the playoffs, they came up once again during the Buffalo Bills-Denver Broncos matchup.
Broadcaster Tony Romo called the Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen 'Mahomes.' While providing a game breakdown from the second quarterback, Romo said, “Go ahead and watch Mahomes right here- he’s gonna get back..”
This isn’t the first time Romo came under fire for his commentary in a Bills game. During the broadcast of the Jaguars game, fans criticized his commentary. This time, however, it might just be a case of mistaking one star QB for another.
Both Allen and Mahomes have been incredible this season. Allen was ranked 11th in passing yards this season with 3,668, while Mahomes sat at 12th with 3,587 yards. Interestingly, it might just be a small sign of respect, considering Romo has been something of a Mahomes fan. Romo even wrote him a letter of encouragement when Mahomes was at Texas Tech.
Romo later revealed, “I followed his career ever since. He was just a kid with big dreams, and it’s amazing to see him go out and do what he’s done.”
Unfortunately for Tony Romo, This Regular Season Ended in Heartbreak For Mahomes
He left the field with a massive injury during their Week 15 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The 33-year-old sustained an ACL and LCL tear in the final minutes of the game. The Chiefs lost the matchup 13-16 and were eliminated from the playoff race.
Mahomes underwent surgery immediately and was set for a recovery period of at least nine months. Expressing his frustration and sorrow over the situation, Mahomes, in an X post, shared that he is focusing on improving every day.
For now, Josh Allen is attempting a comeback with the Bills after a dip by the end of the second half. The Broncos are currently leading the AFC Divisional game 23-17 in the third quarter, and Allen was intercepted.
