NFL Analyst Shuts Down Major KC Concepcion Flaw
The Cleveland Browns selected Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion as the No.24 pick. However, his issues with the drops are well-documented now. But to an NFL analyst, he does not see it coming in the way of Concepcion’s talent as a receiver.
“Reisland isn’t worried and his explanation is rooted in film study rather than optimism,” reported Orange and Brown Talk Podcast, sharing about analyst Lance Reisland’s take on the wide receiver. “He noted that Concepcion is a natural catcher of the football, the ball enters his hands softly, he doesn’t fight it.”
Concepcion picked up doubts as his drop percentage varied between 4.8% in 2023, 9.1% in 2024, and 6.9% in 2025, according to CBS Sports. It was still well above the marks recorded by Makai Lemon, Omar Cooper Jr., and Denzel Boston, all of whom stayed below 3.3% in every season.
But to Reisland, it’s not about Concepcion’s lack of talent. Rather, many of the drops happen because Concepcion starts looking upfield too early before fully securing the catch. He is eager to transition into “run-after-catch mode.”
The Cleveland Browns' wide receiver has had 19 drops over the past two seasons. Yet analyst Lance Reisland feels there is nothing to worry about.
The issue can be fixed if dealt with the right approach to the analyst. Though Concepcion has made errors with this technique, he is inimitable with the ball in his hands.
His lone season with the Aggies produced 919 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. His burst, route variety, and ability to win from multiple alignments cannot be ignored, and that makes him a game-changer.
ESPN Analyst Ben Solak Assessed KC Concepcion’s Potential
ESPN's Ben Solak recently published a piece on who he believes will win the NFL's Rookie of the Year Award. One name that made its way to the list was Concepcion.
The Browns' pick landed on Solak's list of "long shots.” Besides, the analyst strongly believes that Concepcion can be a major volume guy for Cleveland.
"Concepcion has high volume potential as a slot receiver and high explosive potential as a serious YAC athlete with tackle-breaking ability," he wrote. "I would be all-in were it not for my fears that the QB play will be debilitatingly poor."
Solak has all the faith in Concepcion's abilities and is "all-in". Yet he can't put him higher in his prediction list because of the quarterback dilemma in Cleveland.
CBS Sports draft analyst Mike Renner compared his style to Stefon Diggs. Like Diggs, he excels at creating separation and turning catches into big gains.
