NBC Broadcaster Publicly Shamed by NFL Fans After Rough Super Bowl Night
The sun might rise in the west, but never a time when Cris Collinsworth is in the commentary, and not the topic of discussion after that.
Collinsworth was in Super Bowl LX as the Seahawks lifted the Lombardi trophy after beating the Patriots 29-13.
After the game, sports journalist Dov Kleiman took to X to ask what people thought of the commentator. "Grade Cris Collinsworth as an announcer A-F," he posted. The fans have gone with grades like "F-".
He has been subjected to criticism before, with fans saying that he talks a lot and offers nonstop analysis instead of letting plays breathe. This was the sixth Super Bowl broadcast as an NFL analyst, and there were fun bits from it.
During the game, Collinsworth blamed play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico for “jinxing” a penalty, after Tirico mentioned that there had been no penalties in the game’s first half, a flag was called moments later. But does it impress the fans? Nope.
Cris Collinsworth has been scored poorly by NFL fans
"Out of his depth. That booth so wanted a Patriots win and to crap on Sam while crowning Maye," one comment read. Though Collinsworth did not publicly say that he was supporting the Patriots.
Some fans even brought Patrick Mahomes into the discussion. One said, "Did he mention Mahomes? I heard there was a prop bet," while another commented, "I'll give him a C for not mentioning Mahomes".
Collinsworth has gained a reputation for bringing up Patrick Mahomes frequently, even in games where Mahomes isn’t playing, sometimes comparing other quarterbacks or big plays to what Mahomes might do.
"I didn’t like that he was hyping how great of a game it was when obviously it was defense an field goals do most of it," one comment said. The game indeed was dominated by the defense, as both teams together could only score 4 touchdowns.
The Seahawks themselves scored their majority points of 5 field goals. What do you think about Cris Collinsworth? Let us know in the comments.
