Myles Garrett Sets the Clock Ticking on NFL Legend’s Record Following Big Achievement

Myles Garrett has his next target in sight after a historic 2025 season. Fresh off winning his second Defensive Player of the Year award, the Browns star put an NFL legend's record on the clock.

In an interview with Casino Guru News, Garrett said. “I’m going to take that down, and prefer that I take it down here in the next five years. That is definitely on my mind to go out there and get. That’s a goal I’ve had for years now, since college. "

Yet, what record was Myles Garrett talking about? Well, after setting the NFL's new single-season sacks record at 23, Garrett is going after the all-time total sacks record.

He was referring to surpassing the all-time sack record of 200 held by Hall of Famer Bruce Smith. In his 9 NFL seasons, the Browns defensive end has had 293 solo tackles, 119 assists, 125.5 sacks, and 6 fumble recoveries.

Myles Garrett is currently tied with Dwight Freeney for 20th on the list and needs 75 more to get past Bruce Smith. He is averaging 14 sacks per season on an approximate basis.

So, 5 seasons more, and the newly crowned sack king of the NFL might be sitting at a higher position. But his hunger does end there.

Myles Garrett Wants to Break Another Record

The 30-year-old said he’s aiming to surpass J. J. Watt’s single-season tackles-for-loss record.

"A big one I wanted to get was the single-season tackles-for-loss record, and I was creeping up on that before the NFL decided I didn't need any more plays my way, any more sacks or anything like that," Garrett said. "I'll find a way to be me and be even more effective towards the end of the year, take down some other records as well."

Watt recorded 39 TFLs with the Houston Texans in 2012. Garrett posted 33 this past season, the second-highest total ever recorded. Do you think he can do it in future seasons?
