Myles Garrett Reveals Honest Thoughts Over NFL Sack Record

Feb 6, 2026, 2:55 PM CUT

It's been over a month since Myles Garrett broke the single-season sack record, and it's a moment he will never forget.

On the recent episode of ‘The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon’, Myles Garrett appeared as a guest, talking about the final few moments before breaking the record.

"But there was never a thought that I wasn't going to get it. It was never a couldn't..." While Garrett maintained he knew he would break it, during the final game against the Cincinnati Bengals, it didn't look likely. But did it faze Garrett? Jimmy Fallon had the same question, but Garrett's response was simple.

"No... They [opponents] haven't been letting me get any all year so I had to go and take it."

With just five minutes on the clock in the last quarter, Garrett lined up as Joe Burrow prepared for the snap just shy of the Browns' 45-yard mark. And when he caught the ball, Garrett rushed around the offensive lineman in less than two seconds to bring him down.

And right after, he held up his hands, knowing he had just created history. His team gathered around him while the broadcast shifted to his parents, hugging each other in an emotional moment on the field.

Later, on the Fallon show, Garrett summarized the moment, explaining how it felt as incredible as making every other sack. "There's no better feeling in the world."

And now, his feeling of accomplishment has grown to a new level after the Defensive Player of the Year award was announced.

Myles Garrett Wins Another Defensive Player of the Year Award

Garrett has won the award for a second time in his career, and according to the previous single-season sack record holder, Michael Strahan, it was a unanimous decision.

Garrett capped it off with a cheeky, "Based on the season I had, I was hoping it was unanimous. I think I did enough to earn it."

And considering the number of records that Garrett broke, he's not wrong. Garrett has finished the 2025 season with 23 sacks, breaking the record of Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt (2021), both tied with 22.5 sacks. But that's not all.

He became the first since 1982 to record 12 sacks in six consecutive seasons. He even broke Reggie Miller's record of most sacks by a player under the age of 30.

Browns fans hope he carries this form into next season as the team looks to rebuild. What do you think? Will he outshine himself?
