Myles Garrett Reflects Candidly on Partnership With Kevin Stefanski in Cleveland

“I know what’s important to Myles. I know what’s important to this football team,” Kevin Stefanski, the Browns' head coach, stated before the Week 17 matchup against the Steelers

Stefanski might be aware of Myles Garrett's aspirations within his team and supports them. But the Browns’ star defensive end shared that he does not see himself playing for long.

And it is not a surprise, considering how the Browns have disappointed him year after year.

In a media session on Saturday, Garrett opened up about the role the Browns' HC has played in the six years he’s spent with the franchise.

“Unfortunately, more downs than ups,” he stated. “I would have loved to make a little bit more noise in some different years, especially this year, with how well we’ve been playing on defence.”

The 29-year-old was the overall No. 1 pick in the 2017 draft, selected by the Browns. Garrett is tied in third for most sacks in the league and is currently chasing the record for most sacks by a player in a season.

Currently at 22, he needs half a sack to share the record with Michael Strahan, who first set it in 2001 with 22.5 sacks while playing for the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers’ T.J. Watt, who matched it in 2021.

Kevin Stefanski and franchise management under fire for misusing talents

While ranting against the season’s turnout and rumors of internal changes on the 92.3 The Fan podcast, sports commentator Daryl Ruiter accused general manager Andrew Berry of wasting away many players. Including Garrett.

“He wasted Nick Chuub, he wasted Joel Bitonio, Myles Garrett. He’s wasted Denzel Ward. He’s wanted this window. So why does he get the opportunity to continue?”

Garrett has confessed his desire to be traded to another team, keeping his dream of playing in the Super Bowl in mind. But after spending his prime in such a dysfunctional team, can we hold onto his ambitions for long?

“But it's buzzing under the cards, so you gotta continue growing and find ways to improve because another team has too many talented individuals not to,” Garrett further said.

As of now, Garrett has eyes on him, waiting to see if he can get the sack record.
