Myles Garrett, Joel Bitonio Push Back on Draft Talk After Browns Beat Steelers
The Cleveland Browns registered their fourth win of the season, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers by a 13-6 scoreline.
With this win, Kevin Stefanski’s team is now sixth in the 2026 NFL draft order. While the Browns’ fans are passionate about the new picks, which could help their team to Super Bowl glory, the team’s veterans are not so thrilled about it.
In the post-game press conference, edge rusher Myles Garrett firmly denied playing for the advantage of the draft pick. “No one signed up to lose. No one signed up to lose at all. So I don’t care what the situation is with the record. Not a single one of us wants to line up and lay down to a team or a man that’s in front of us,” he said.

Veteran left guard Joel Bitonio couldn’t care less about the draft as well. “I do not blame the fans for thinking about the future and everything like that. But as players in this locker room, every time you go on the field, it’s a resume, and this is a real sport. This is the NFL,” he stated.
Along with the sixth overall draft pick, the Browns also have a 1st round pick from the trade with the Jaguars. This season, constant QB issues have troubled Cleveland. However, with Shedeur Sanders’ resurgence, they should focus on strengthening their offense.
Rookie Carson Schwesinger backs Joel Bitonio’s statement
Joel Bitonio stated that their aim for next season was to set the right culture for the rookie class.
Rookie linebacker Carson Schwesinger was asked about his statement in the press conference, and his thoughts also aligned with his.
“Yeah, I think as a rookie class, we understand what the expectation is for us and, you know, we hold ourselves to a high standard as well in terms of, being able to be a group that comes in and establishes the culture they talk about.”
Although he wasn’t able to record a sack against the Steelers, Carson had 9 tackles in the game. Overall, he is easily in contention for being the best rookie defender this season. The 22-year-old ranks sixth with 156 combined tackles and has also recorded 2.5 sacks.
Schwesinger could easily break the franchise record for most tackles in a single season. The current record is held by D’Qwell Jackson, who had 158 tackles in the 2011 season. With one game to go, do you think he will break the record? Let us know in the comments!
