Myles Garrett Falters Against Steelers, but Has One Last Chance Against Bengals

The Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett could’ve broken the sack record a few games ago already. However, there’s only one game left in the current NFL season, and he still hasn’t reached that milestone.

In the 13-6 win over the Steelers, Garrett had an impactful performance that wasn’t defined by the numbers. His constant presence on the field constantly haunted the Pittsburgh offense, as they only scored 6 points.

The 29-year-old DE only scored a tackle point and wasn’t able to sack Aaron Rodgers. It’s been three meetings between the two, but Garrett has yet to sack the veteran. In 16 games played this season, he has scored 42 solo tackles, with 22 sacks.

To break the record for the highest sacks in a single season, Garrett has to score just one sack. The current record is held by Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt with 22.5 sacks. Although it was a solid display of defensive resilience, this was only his fourth 0-sack game throughout the entire season.

Because of his incredible performance for Cleveland this season, Garrett earned the seventh Pro Bowl selection of his career.

Their Week 18 opponents, the Cincinnati Bengals, showed lethal offensive prowess and defeated the Cardinals by a score of 37-14. With the Browns already eliminated, this will be the last chance the 29-year-old has ‌to create history.

Myles Garrett explains the importance of fighting for the team

The win against the Steelers was one of the best defensive displays the Cleveland Browns have pulled off this season. Myles Garrett was proud of his teammates, the way they fought for each other.

In the post-game press conference, Cleveland’s defensive end talked about the chemistry the team had. "I mean, we fight for each other. I mean, that's everybody. I don't think they're fighting hard because of me. I don't think they're fighting so hard for Kevin. We fight because we have each other, and this is a brotherhood."

If we ignore the quarterback problems Cleveland has faced this season, the defensive unit has been excellent. They rank second in ‌fewest yards allowed, with only 4458 yards throughout the season.

Rookie Carlos Schwesinger has been a revelation for the Browns, leading the team with 67 solo tackles. If they give proper attention and fill in the requirements in the upcoming draft, the Browns might be the team to beat.
