Myles Garrett Drops Cryptic Post After Browns Hire Unexpected Name as Head Coach
Many thought Jim Schwartz would be the next Cleveland Browns head coach, but the Browns hired Ravens' offensive coach Todd Monken. While management praised Monken, not everyone seems to be on the same page.
Myles Garrett, who took to X and sent a cryptic message after Monken’s hiring.
The 30-year-old defensive end shared a picture of a sad, exhausted worker sitting on a bench on his Instagram story. The post came shortly after the team announced Monken's appointment
Then again, it's not surprising, as Myles Garrett openly admitted that he wanted the Browns’ defensive coordinator to take the head coaching job.

“I mean I like Jim; I like the coaches that we have,” Garrett said. “So, I don’t know what’s going to be in the future. Would I like to play under Jim? Would I like to keep the team and for us to improve? Absolutely,” Garrett said on January 2, 2026.
Garrett has also performed exceptionally under Schwartz as Cleveland’s DC. This season, he broke the NFL's single-season sacks record initially set by Michael Strahan with 22. While T. J. Watt equaled it in 2023, Garrett broke it with 23 sacks during the regular season.
Myles Garrett wasn't the only one who supported Jim Schwartz
Jim Schwartz's impact on the Cleveland Browns' defense was quite evident. Danzel Ward also came in support of him and said he should've gotten the head coaching job.
“So much love and respect for Coach Schwartz. Me, I would highly recommend Coach Schwartz for a head coaching job here, definitely,” Ward said in early January.
"Like I said before, he’s a great coach. He’s helped my game tremendously. Puts us in a great position, great leader, and I can’t say enough great things about him," he added.
Meanwhile, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that Schwartz wasn't happy about being passed up and has even expressed his intention to leave the Browns.
