Myles Garrett Dismisses Rivalry Claim Ahead of Steelers Clash
Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett is just one sack from recording the most sacks in a season. Although the record could come against either a legendary Steelers player or one who got into a scuffle with Garrett, it doesn't matter to the defensive end.
One of the two QBs Garrett may face is none other than Mason Rudolph. Back in 2019, Garrett and Rudolph made headlines for their physical altercation on the field. After the Browns’ defensive end sacked the Steelers quarterback with just seconds remaining, things escalated quickly.
However, Myles Garrett doesn't view Rudolph as a rival. “I don’t think there’s a lot of history between the two of us,” the 29-year-old said.
Similarly, he doesn't care if it's Aaron Rodgers or linebacker T.J. Watt on the opposite side. "Whether I get it against him or I get it against Aaron, makes no difference to me as long as it gets got," the defensive end added during Friday's press conference.

T.J. Watt's presence won't make a difference either, despite the linebacker tying Michael Strahan's 2001 record in 2023. "I think the only rivalry is between the fan bases debating on who’s better. It’s not like him and I are going back and forth," said Myles Garrett.
So it's safe to say that the Browns star won't go out there to settle any scores.
Myles Garrett is laser-focused on the record
Garrett, currently at 22, needs just one sack to break the NFL record for most sacks in a season by a player. However, even with just two matches left in their season, including the one against the Steelers, Garrett isn't worried.
“Pressure? Nah, no pressure. Like I said, it’s going down,” Garrett said during the press conference. “So, I’m not stressed or worried about whether I’m going to get it. Just a matter of when," he added.
However, the Cleveland Browns players will be happy if he breaks the record by sacking Aaron Rodgers. "It’d be special," the defensive end said.
"He’s legendary himself. And it’s a legendary record I’m out here chasing. So that’d be a great one to put a picture on the wall with," added Garrett.
However, there's a chance the Pittsburgh Steelers may choose to bench the 42-year-old QB. If the Baltimore Ravens lose against the Green Bay Packers, the Steelers would win the AFC North title.
Yet, no matter what happens, all Myles Garrett really cares about is getting that record.
