Myles Garrett Compared with NBA Star Giannis Antetokounmpo by Fellow NFL Star

Myles Garrett's skill has earned him a lot of praise, but this time, it was his relationship with the Browns that was under the spotlight.

Los Angeles wide receiver Puka Nacua compared him to Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Nacua said: “It’s like, him [Giannis Antetokounmpo] and Myles Garrett are like ‘Oh, I don’t want to be here.’ And then, ‘Hey, look, I’m back, guys.”

Garrett has expressed his desire to leave the Cleveland side multiple times. The latest trade request came in the 2025 offseason, where he wanted to leave the Browns in search of Super Bowl glory. However, the Browns convinced him to stay with a 4-year, $123.5 million (guaranteed) contract extension.

And although he has never requested a trade, Giannis has faced persistent trade speculation throughout his career, especially before signing long-term deals with Milwaukee. Giannis signed a three-year maximum veteran extension worth $175.37 million.

While Nacua’s comment was just a light-hearted jab towards Garrett, the similarities are evident. It will be interesting to see whether Garrett stays at Cleveland for the next few years or requests a trade again.

He wreaked havoc for the Browns this season, recording 43 solo tackles and 3 forced fumbles. Garrett also broke the single-season sack record, which was jointly held by Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt, with 23 sacks.

Despite this, when the Browns chose Todd Monken as their new head coach, Garrett expressed his feelings with a cryptic post of a sad employee on social media. However, there is some clarity on the matter.

Myles Garrett to Honor His Contract at Browns

As noted earlier, Myles Garrett signed a total of $160 million, 4-year extension.

But looking at his tendency to request frequent trades, owner Jimmy Haslam and the GM Andrew Berry have made their stance clear.

“They don’t expect Garrett to ask to be traded, but if he does, the answer will be ‘no,’ just like it was last year when he asked out to try to win a Super Bowl elsewhere,” As per Mary Kay Cabot.

Garrett has been vocal about having Schwartz as Cleveland's head coach. After his departure from the Browns, it might be the final nail in the coffin for Garrett. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
