Myles Garrett Called Out Over Trade Rumor Silence by Radio Show Host
Myles Garrett is fueling trade speculation by staying silent as the Browns' offseason begins. Radio hosts on 92.3 The Fan are now calling out the defensive star for his strategic absence.
During an episode of 92.3 The Fan, this Friday, co-hosts Jonathan Peterlin and Nick Wilson discussed that Garrett was allowing trade rumors by intentionally not addressing his absence. This occurred after Garrett skipped OTAs and voluntary minicamp, leading to a lack of face-to-face contact with the coaching staff.
"He knows more than anyone that if he wanted to have this story go away, he could do it so easily...and him choosing not to continues on the story that we have," Wilson said.
Garrett can excuse his participation in the April workout because it is voluntary, but if he misses the mandatory workout from June 9–11, there can be financial penalties.
But ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler said no to the trade between the Browns and Garrett.
“I am operating as if that is put to bed, and he is not traded. The Browns are a value-based team. So if they get great value for Myles Garrett, I could see it," Fowler said on 92.3 the Fan.
However, last season, Garrett requested a trade, but the Browns were unwilling, thus they restructured his contract for four years, worth $160 million, as per Spotrac. The contract has a no-trade clause as well, with Garrett being with the team until 2030.
In the same year, he won Defensive Player of the Year for the second time and set a new single-season sack record with 23 sacks and three forced fumbles.
But if the rumors turn out to be true, who will be the team to step in for this trade?
Bears Linked Through Myles Garrett Trade Talks
The Chicago Bears are reappearing in the Myles Garrett trade conversation, with uncertainty around Cleveland’s long-term stance refusing to fully go away.
As per heavy.com, the Bears need more consistency opposite edge rusher Montez Sweat, and that gap keeps the idea of a blockbuster pass rusher moving through offseason conversation.
On FOX Sports' NFL coverage this week, Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken was asked about his relationship with Myles Garrett.
“Myles? No, I have not met him face to face yet.” Monken said
For Chicago, the situation is worth watching because adding Garrett next to Sweat would reshape the pass rush immediately.
Across 134 games, Garrett has recorded 412 tackles (293 solo) and 23 forced fumbles, cementing his status as a premier pass rusher in nine seasons.
As Cleveland weighs its future, rival teams remain on high alert should trade talks officially open.
