Mike Vrabel Inches Close to Coach of the Year Award as Patriots Continue Dominant Run
It's safe to say the New England Patriots are on a fairytale run. Just last season, they finished dead last in the AFC East on a 4-13 record. Cut to this season and it looks like Mike Vrabel managed to turn the squad into winners. And he might be looking at a trophy for all his efforts.
We're not talking about the Lombardi. It's the Coach of the Year Award! Mike Vrabel is the heavily favored for the award, ahead of Ben Johnson (Chicago Bears) and Mike Macdonald (Seattle Seahawks). Considering his coaching history it shouldn't really be a surprise.
Vrabel coached the Tennessee Titans from 2018 to 2023, winning the AFC South titles in 2019 and 2020. He earned NFL Coach of the Year honors in 2021 after leading the Titans to a 12-5 record and the AFC’s No. 1 seed despite the team suffering the most injuries in the league that season. And just a few years later, he's working that same magic for the Patriots.

New England was down in the dumps in the last few season. Remember the 2022 season? They finished with an 8-9 record, 3rd in the AFC East, and no playoffs, which was followed by back-to-back 4-13 seasons in 2023 and 2024. But then Mike Vrabel was hired as the head coach in January this year, and the numbers speak for themselves.
They haven't lost a game in their last 10 matchups, carrying the biggest winning streak of the season. Not only have the Patriots bounced back, but they also have an MVP contender in Drake Maye. That’s the impact Vrabel has had on this team.
As he stars down the barrel of the final few weeks of the regular season, Mike Vrabel isn't letting up.
Mike Vrabel Is In No Mood For Rest
The Patriots defeated the Giants 33-15, improving to 11-2. However, that comes after 13 straight weeks of playing games, without a bye week. Now, since Week 14 is their bye week, some fans were afraid it threatened the streat Vrabel worked so hard to build, but the the Patriots HC quickly dismissed worries.
“Just because you have a bye, that doesn't mean you're guaranteed some victory the next week in this league…The bye doesn't guarantee anything other than we should get some guys back that we didn't have last night, and we'll see where that goes throughout the week. ”
He explained that the players should take some time to reconnect with the people who matter to them, then return ready to shift their attention back to football and focus on finishing the season strong. Do you agree with him?
