Mike Tomlin Still in Demand Despite Being Booed Out By Steelers' Fans After Crashing Out of Playoffs

Mike Tomlin has walked out of the Steelers after chants of "Fire Tomlin" echoed in the stadium in the playoff game against the Texans, which they lost.

Despite the boos, the NFL world has a demand for him. But it might not be what you're thinking. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk stated in a discussion that Tomlin might be going to TV.

"Last week, it was clear that the people who were talking about Mike Tomlin possibly going to TV knew something. They weren't just theorizing. They weren't just speculating. They knew something. "

The Journalist said that he does not know, but based on his reserach he believes, "Mike Tomlin's got an opportunity in TV in his back pocket, and he's got to decide when the season's over whether or not he's going to take advantage of it.

Tomlin has already walked out of the Steelers. Now, if he chooses to go down the TV path, he has tons of experience for it. He guided the Steelers to a Super Bowl XLIII victory (2009) and eight AFC North titles.

He is one of the few NFL coaches with 200+ career wins and is among the youngest to reach that mark. And he won't be the first one to do it. John Madden became a legendary NFL TV analyst on CBS, Fox, ABC, and NBC after coaching the Oakland Raiders.

Another former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, Bill Cowher, became a studio analyst for CBS Sports. Tony Dungy, Jimmy Johnson, Mike Ditka, the list goes on.

Mike Tomlin can also follow the Sean Payton path

The Super Bowl-winning head coach has the chance to go and enjoy his time on TV and then return as the head coach in the coming season. Exactly how Sean Payton did.

After stepping away from coaching following the 2021 season, Payton worked as an NFL studio analyst for Fox Sports during the 2022 season. He appeared on Fox NFL Sunday and other Fox NFL coverage.

But in 2023, he left TV and returned to coaching as the head coach of the Denver Broncos. But which broadcast can Tomlin go to? According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, Fox is considered the frontrunner among networks interested in Tomlin.

That is because the network has not filled Jimmy Johnson’s seat on Fox NFL Sunday following Johnson’s retirement in March.
