Mike Tomlin Gives Major Verdict On Shedeur Sanders Ahead of Browns vs Steelers Clash

Days before Shedeur Sanders is set to battle the Pittsburgh Steelers, head coach Mike Tomlin dropped his verdict on the rookie QB.

“The things that stood out were evident in his video. There’s a toughness there that doesn’t get talked about enough. There’s a competitive spirit there that doesn’t get talked about enough. I know he’s very talented and made a lot of plays for his university and his team. The intangible qualities displayed on tape were impressive."

In his first year with the Buffaloes, he helped them gain national attention. He threw for 7,364 yards, 64 touchdowns, and just 13 interceptions during his time with the team.

His outstanding performance earned him multiple prestigious honors, including AP Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year (2023), Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year (2024), and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award (2024).

He was so good for the Buffaloes that in recognition of his legacy, Colorado retired his No. 2 jersey. All these things must have impressed Mike Tomlin.

So could we see Shedeur Sanders play for Mike Tomlin?

Well, there are certain possibilities, but one can never be sure. Sanders had visited the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex before the 2025 draft.

“I enjoyed my time here in Pittsburgh. I think I connected well with all the coaches, and it was real fun,” he said back then. Reporters even claimed that Tomlin liked Sanders, and there were chances that the two could work together in the Steelers.

Todd McShay said on The McShay Show. “Mike Tomlin really likes Shedeur. If he’s there at 21, Shedeur could very well be a Pittsburgh Steeler.” Though they showed no interest in the 2025 draft, the Browns eventually claimed him.

Now, he is on a four-year rookie deal with the Browns, so it all depends on the Browns if they trade him.

As for Shedeur Sanders, he has said, “I live in the present. I’m focused on this week because nothing’s promised going into next year or anything." So for now, it's a wait-and-see.

Do you think this could be a possibility?
