The Cleveland Browns' defensive end, Myles Garrett, finally broke the sack record in a 20-18 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in their last game.

While the 29-year-old star garnered praise and congratulatory messages around the NFL world, the man whose record he broke wasn’t too amused about it.

On the Fox Sports broadcast, Michael Strahan jokingly added a little “filter” on the sack record. He stated that while Garrett took 17 games to reach 23 sacks, it took him only 16 games to reach that milestone, indirectly implying that his record came “faster.”

“I mean I hold the record for 16-game season, they hold the record for 17-game season,” Strahan joked. “This young man’s amazing, absolutely amazing. And I know that he has so many sacks left in him. He’s just 30 years old.”

Garrett had to wait for a long time, as it came with just five minutes left in the fourth quarter. After he sacked Joe Burrow, the entire team celebrated with him and savoured this moment. Winning the game against the divisional rivals was just a cherry on top.

In this game, the veteran defensive tackle wasn’t that impactful. He just recorded a solo tackle, a sack, and a couple of QB hits. However, this game will forever be historic for him. Garrett couldn’t believe that he had broken the record, as he revealed his thoughts after the game in an interview.

Myles Garrett revealed to be nervous ahead of the game

During an interview with CBS Sports, Myles Garrett confessed to having major doubts about the sack record.

The eight-time Pro Bowler further added that he had a dream of not being able to break the sack record. Garrett revealed that he was in a sweat when he woke up, but was determined not to let his bad dream become a reality.

“I can’t like, I was nervous as hell. Had a dream last night that I didn’t get it and all the feelings that come with that. I woke up and I think I was sweating, and then I was like, there’s no way I’m gonna let that be my destiny.”

Throughout this season, Garrett has sacked many big names. He has recorded 3 sacks against Joe Burrow and 4 sacks against Lamar Jackson. However, his most impressive outing came against the New England Patriots in their 32-13 loss in Week 8. The 29-year-old sacked Drake Maye 5 times and recorded 6 solo tackles.

With this historic season, Garrett tacks his total sacking tally to 124.3. Where do you think he will end up on the list for most sacks recorded in NFL history? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
