Michael Irvin Rips Into Cleveland Browns for Failing to Provide Shedeur Sanders in His Debut Season

A few days after Michael Irvin called Shedeur Sanders the best Browns QB of the season, he has some words for the Browns.

The NFL legend heavily criticised the Browns for the team surrounding Shedeur on the Michael Irvin Podcast.

"I watched Shedeur running for his life. Protection isn’t worth a damn...some of the guys he’s playing with, I don’t think they’re worth a damn. His top receiver, Jerry Jeudy, I mean. Yeah, he certainly can use a talent upgrade all around."

Jeudy missed a touchdown pass from Sanders in the 3-31 loss to the Bears in Week 15. The ball bounced off Jeudy, and what could have been a touchdown landed in the hands of the Bears' CB.

"I hope Shedeur is looking at Caleb Williams and saying, ‘Man, he was having the same kind of rough season his first season, but they brought in a coach, and that coach has taken a system and put it around his talent."

Caleb Williams had a passer rating of 87.8 with 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions in 17 games in his rookie season in 2024. The Bears' OL failed to protect him much, as the opponents sacked him 68 times.

But then the team brought in a first-time coordinator, Declan Boyle, new HC Ben Johnson, and strengthened the OL. Result? In 14 games, Williams has been sacked only 23 times with 3,150 yards and 21 touchdowns to his name already.

Shedeur Sanders is in a similar state. Jerry Jeudy is leading the league with the most drops of the season, 10 drops in 89 targets.

And Shedeur Sanders can get some reinforcements going into the 2026 season

Well, the question around the 2026 NFL Draft is, what will the Cleveland Browns do? They could make an attempt for Fernando Mendoza or Dante Moore, but is there a different route?

Just as the Bears did, the Browns could invest their first-round picks in finding better offensive tackles and strengthening their offensive line.

They have a young core in Harold Fanin Jr., Quinshon Judkins, and Shedeur Sanders. If Sanders is able to prove himself in the remaining games, they could take this route.

What are your thoughts on what the future holds for Sanders?
