Maxx Crosby Could Leave Las Vegas as Raiders Get Trade Update

The Los Angeles Rams acquired Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns on June 1, but there may be another blockbuster move waiting to happen. The NFC West’s San Francisco 49ers are expected to pull off a major move to remain competitive in their division.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay proposed a hypothetical trade scenario for the 49ers where bringing in the Las Vegas Raiders’ DE Maxx Crosby could add to their competitiveness.

“With Myles Garrett off the market following his blockbuster trade to the Los Angeles Rams, teams still hoping to deal for a game-changing edge rusher should set their sights on Maxx Crosby,” wrote Kay in his analysis.

Per DJ Siddiqi of heavy.com, Crosby had previously been traded to the Baltimore Ravens during the offseason in exchange for two first-round picks. However, the trade was nullified due to Crosby failing a physical, and the DE was back to Las Vegas.

Kay shared in his report that while both Crosby and the Raiders have stated that Crosby is happy to be back with the team, it may not be long before another trade materializes.

“An organization like the San Francisco 49ers, who appear to be a piece or two away from making yet another Super Bowl run, could offer a first-round pick plus additional compensation for Crosby,” said Kay.

According to Kay’s Bleacher Report analysis, Crosby is the most effective addition to a defense that’s already anchored by Nick Bosa, the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year.

Pairing two of the NFL’s best pass-rushers could give San Francisco “the best edge rushing tandem” across the league.

Alexander Desrosiers of OBOXMA reported that Crosby is coming off a strong 2025 season, despite physical issues that affected his game. With 10 sacks and 28 tackles for loss, Crosby counts as one of the league’s most productive defensive players.

With rumors continuing to link the 49ers with Crosby, interest in the veteran defensive end could intensify once he’s back to full health.

49ers Linked to Maxx Crosby Despite Health Concerns

The Raiders traded Crosby to the Ravens on March 6, with the deal set to be official on March 11. However, with Crosby failing his physical, the Ravens backed out.

Teddy Ricketson of the Sporting News reported that this trade report stirred up controversy as the Raiders had already updated teams about Crosby’s physical health.

In October 2025, during a game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Crosby sustained a knee injury and later ended up requiring a meniscus surgery.

With Crosby’s physical health under scrutiny, Desrosiers added that by bringing in Crosby, the 49ers could bolster their defensive unit to compete with the league’s top contenders.

The DE’s “intensity and consistency” make him a prime target for a team aiming for the Super Bowl.

Per Siddiqqi, the move is unlikely, but after the Rams swooped in and landed Garrett, anything seems possible.
