Major Update on Andrew Berry's Future After Owner Jimmy Haslam Makes Massive Claim
Analysts were right. After firing Kevin Stefanski, Jimmy Haslam confirmed his reasons for retaining Andrew Berry, and it has to do with the 2025 NFL Draft.
But in their chase for John Harbaugh, analysts think Haslam has to decide Berry once again.
In an episode of 92.3 The Fan, hosts Nick Wilson and Jonathan Peterlin asked the question to Browns insider Ashley Bastock.
“I think 'no' just because of the way Jimmy Haslam talked about Andrew Berry this past week. I thought that press availability was interesting because every positive thing he said about Berry was all in the last eight months. So, who knows what he has been thinking on any given day,” she said.
As analysts believed, Berry's work with the 2025 NFL Draft class saved his job. Haslam said so.
“I think Andrew over the last year has done a very good job, and I want to go through that because I think it’s important to talk about the moves he made to strengthen our team, okay?” Haslam said.
Despite years of poor drafts and trades (like Deshaun Watson), Berry managed to get incredible rookie names last year. Shedeur Sanders, Harold Fannin Jr., Quinshon Judkins, Dylan Sampson, and a few more names. While they didn't have breakout years, their rookie season gave fans hope about a strong core.
Bastock believes, “Just say ‘never say never,’ which is my typical answer to those types of questions. But it would be a shocking move. And I don’t know why necessarily that would be John Harbaugh’s condition coming here,” she added.
Why Andrew Berry could be let go to bring in John Harbaugh
An incoming coach like Harbaugh would likely want significant control over the roster.
The Browns have a good position for the draft, but only if they use it well, paired with the right trades, they can really turn things around next season.
For now, Harbaugh hasn't spoken about Berry or the Browns job. With the interviews slated for next week, fans will be observing the situation closely.
