Major Shakeup Rumored at Bills as Top Coach in Line for Surprising LSU Switch

“Ultimately, the success at the level that LSU demands simply did not materialize,” That was LSU's statement as they fired Brian Kelly in the 4th season of his 10-year contract. After a brutal 25-49 home loss to Texas A&M Aggies the team has been a hunt for a new coach, and the latest name coming up in that is that of the Buffalo Bills' offensive coordinator.
As reported by Sports Illustrated on LSU’s new head coach, “prediction market Kalshi put Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady behind Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin but ahead of several college candidates.” It is important to note here that no official statement has come from LSU or Brady. Though he could just be the guidance LSU needs.
Brady joined the Buffalo Bills in 2022 as the team’s quarterbacks coach and was promoted to interim offensive coordinator midway through the 2023 season after the previous coordinator was fired. On January 28, 2024, he was named the Bills’ full-time offensive coordinator.
He follows a “Everybody Eats” offensive philosophy, which emphasizes spreading the ball around, not relying on one star receiver or one main target. That startgety resulted in Bills becoming just the ninth team in NFL history to finish a season with 13 different players catching a touchdown. Under his guidance, Josh Allen won his MVP award last year.
In the 2025 season, the Bills have a PPG of 28.3 and record 381.8 yards per game. . Plus, Brady spent one year on staff at LSU, serving as the Tigers' passing game coordinator in 2019, so there is no doubt that he is just the perfect guy for the job.
But the big question is, does he want to?
As of now, he earns approximately $1.8 million per year, as per a 2024 report, making him one of the highest-paid offensive coordinators in the NFL. Plus Bills are among the best teams in the league. Would he give all that up? Luckily for LSU, he is just the third option.
Lane Kiffin is still ahead of the Bills' coach
As per Kalshi, Lane Kiffin tops the odds of becoming the new LSU head coach at 73% followed by Jon Sumrall at 13% and Joe Brady at 9%. Kiffin is widely regarded as one of college football’s top offensive minds. He is known for aggressive, high-octane offenses and a willingness to push the boundaries of traditional schemes.
He has built a reputation as one of college football’s most successful and innovative coaches, highlighted by the transformation he led at Ole Miss. Since taking over in 2020, he delivered the program’s first-ever 11-win season, multiple 10-win campaigns, and five straight bowl appearances, becoming the fastest coach in school history to reach 40 wins.
Earlier in his career, he helped produce one of the nation’s most explosive offenses at USC . He later revitalized Florida Atlantic with two 11-win seasons. He is just as right a coach for LSU as Joe Brady, if not more. Let us know your thoughts on this. Who do you think will be the new coach for LSU?
