On Saturday, former MVP and CBS analyst Matt Ryan was named the Atlanta Falcons’ President of Football, effective immediately.

He began overseeing the team operations and started a dialogue with the team’s owner, Arthur M. Blank, and CEO Greg Beadles to ensure everything related to the team’s football and business is aligned.

In his latest episode of NFL Today on Sunday, Ryan stated that he’s ready to get a move on with his new responsibility. Introducing himself after taking charge, he said that Bill Cowher, the former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, questioning him about the Falcons immediately off the bat is the vision he has for his team. 

“So, we sit here next year and get to watch your team. When I define and when I have to sit here and talk about what I see in Atlanta Falcons football, what words should be coming out of my mouth?” Cowher asked. 

“I think that is the vision for where we want to be. You want to be in the mix, in the playoffs, and it has been too long there," he said. "We're going to work really hard and find the right people to get us back into that position to be successful.”

He also updated on the Falcons’ search for their new head coach and general manager, which he is leading. Stating that he’s grateful for this opportunity and looking to build a team with the right people, he said he’s ready to move ahead with the Falcons.

Matt Ryan’s Falcons History

The former quarterback stated that despite all the changes and opportunities in his life, he has “always been a Falcon.” He played 14 seasons of his career for the team with a 120-102 regular-season record. 

As one of their best players ever, Ryan led the team into five postseason playoffs, which included two NFC Championship games and the Super Bowl LI appearance. 

With his experience both as a player and analyst, Ryan is sure to reshape the organization into a thriving, well-constructed one.
