The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers meet at Lambeau Field on Sunday, December 7, 2025, in a matchup carrying major playoff weight. According to current projections, the Bears hold a strong 74% chance of making the postseason. The Packers sit even higher at 88%. But the team in white and blue has just been hit with a big setback- Rome Odzune is out. 

Chicago Bears have put the WR into week-to-week as per an NFL Insider due to a foot injury. He will not be playing against the Packers with questions over long-term availability. “Bears WR Rome Odunze, who was ruled out for Sunday’s game against Green Bay, has been playing with a stress fracture in his foot, per sources. At this point, Odunze just needs rest and is week-to-week. The belief is it’s nothing long-term term and he’ll be back soon,” NFL insider Tom Pelissero posted on X. 

The first time we saw the Chicago Bears star on the injury list was after the with his heel injury in the week leading up to the game against the Bengals. Odzune then told the injury had been a growing thing over the season. It was at its peak in the game against the Ravens, where he recorded seven catches for 114 yards in the 30-16 loss. 

Throughout November, Odzune had at least one practice each week where he sat out, but never missed a game before this. Surprisingly, he did not show up on the injury report last week ahead of the Eagles game. If we talk about this season, he has 44 catches for 661 yards and has scored 6 touchdowns in 12 games, but the injury has taken its toll. 

After the Ravens game, Odunze has totaled 13 receptions for 188 yards and a touchdown in five games. In that span, he struggled with drops, keeping his footing, sideline catches, and more. With Odunze out, expect more targets for Luther Burden III or Olamide Zaccheaus. DJ Moore, Colston Loveland, and Cole Kmet could also see increased production. Though he is not the only setback. 

The Chicago Bears hit with two more losses 

Rome Odunze has taken the edge off the Bears' offense, but injuries have also hit their defense hard. Tyrique Stevenson aggravated his hip injury during the Bears’ Week 12 matchup against the Steelers, leaving the game after just 12 snaps; ruled out of Week 13. After that he did not practice one day this week either and will not play against the Packers. 

Its a big loss given he had 33 solo tackles, 13 assists, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 interception in 10 games this season. The team has also ruled linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II out of the game due to shoulder injury.

He has had 3 solo tackles and 3 assists in 7 games this season meaning further defenisve loss. Though linebacker T.J. Edwards will be returning, and so will be Kyle Monangai. Now, if the Chicago Bears lose this game, their playoff chances will fall to 67%.
