“Made Me a Better Man”: Patrick Mahomes Pens Emotional Message for 2x Super Bowl Winner

After missing the playoffs for the first time since 2014, the Kansas City Chiefs have let go of a 2x Super Bowl Winner, prompting a reaction from Patrick Mahomes.

The Kansas City Chiefs took Matt Nagy of the coaching staff after a year that saw them miss their first playoff since 2014. To go from making it to 5 out of the last 6 Super Bowls and then not make the playoffs was a big drop in performance for the team.

"Forever a Super Bowl champ. Thanks for everything, Coach Nagy!" captioned the Chiefs on Instagram as they bid farewell to their OC Matt Nagy.

Mahomes shared the post on his Instagram story with an emotional message. "Thank you coach for everything! Made me a better player and man!🫡"

Matt Nagy first joined the Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff in 2013 as the team's quarterbacks coach, and he was promoted to the offensive coordinator for the 2016-17 season, around the time Mahomes was drafted.

While he didn't see too much game time in that year, Nagy was critical in developing a young Patrick Mahomes. And after Nagy spent a bit of time away from the Chiefs, he returned in 2022 as QBs coach.

That year, Mahomes had a passer rating of 105.2 with 5,250 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 17 games that season. He won his second MVP award, his second Super Bowl MVP award, and also his second Super Bowl.

Fortunately for Mahomes, Nagy's replacement is a familiar face he has found success with before.

Patrick Mahomes Is Also Rallying Behind Another 2x Super Bowl Winner

Eric Bieniemy is the new offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes reacted to this by posting on Instagram an old photo of himself and Bieniemy with three flexed biceps emojis.

Bieniemy first joined the Chiefs back in 2013 and was promoted to OC in 2018. That is also the year when Mahomes became the QB1 for the Chiefs. The two won the Super Bowl twice (2020 & 2023) before the former left for the Bears in 2023.

Mahomes welcomed his former coach to the team with another story, posted a few days ago on Instagram. The upcoming season will tell us whether this move truly helped the Chiefs. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
