Before Shedeur Sanders even joined the NFL, there were reports of him being "arrogant" and "brash," a major reason he slid to the 144th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. But former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar says "he's a big fan of Shedeur."

“I love his personality. They don't like his personality. Are you crazy? It's one of the greatest, coolest personalities. He's happy. He talks. He goes out to all these kinds of events. He's amazing in his off time, hanging out with high school kids and junior high kids, and the influence he makes,” said the legend in a conversation with The Dawgs Podcast.

At the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, Todd McShay, a longtime draft analyst, reported that teams felt Sanders didn't have a "professional approach" during the interviews.

Kosar believes Sanders' behavior may not sit well with everyone, but his exciting play style is what Browns coaches should focus on and why he deserves to be brought to the forefront.

“The Browns were poor last year on offense. We had injuries at the end of the year, and for Shedeur to come in and play productively at the end of the year, when the line was woeful, and the receivers were non-existent, he made plays,” Kosar added.

Last season, Sanders threw for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and completed 56.6% of his passes. Despite the up-and-down rookie campaign, Sanders showed enough promise to be in the QB1 race this season.

"Now to see him play with three weapons, and some signing on the offensive line, like I'm really looking forward to [Sanders playing]," Kosar said.

Sanders is currently competing with veteran Deshaun Watson for the QB1 spot. Watson is coming back to play after the 2024 season, as he missed the last season entirely.

While Kosar believes that the Browns should look at Sanders for their QB question, another insider has opposite thoughts.

Former NFL Scout Sounds Alarm on Shedeur Sanders’ Future

A recent post by First Round Mock on X amplified Kelly’s blunt assessment of Sanders’ career, as he questioned whether the young quarterback possesses the traits needed to develop into a successful NFL starter.

“As a former NFL Scout: Shedeur Sanders is not going to develop in the NFL. Why? He has a hesitation that’s ingrained in him. I wrote about it his pre-draft scouting report,” Kelly said.

The former scout further added that the game might be moving a bit too fast for Sanders as he prepares for his second NFL season.

He added, “The NFL is too fast for him. This is why Sanders had the slowest time to throw in the NFL last season (3.24 seconds Next Gen Stats).”

Kelly’s biggest concern centers around Sanders’ time-to-throw numbers. While quarterbacks can manage pressure in different ways, holding the ball for far too long is a dangerous habit in the league.
