The Green Bay Packers running back, Josh Jacobs, was arrested on May 26 after an alleged domestic disturbance, as per the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department.

The Brown County District Attorney, David L. Lasee, issued a statement in light of the ongoing case.

“It is common for our office to review referrals where law enforcement has made a mandatory arrest for domestic abuse, but our office chooses to release the individual from custody and request further investigation before making a formal charging decision,” said Lasee in the statement.

The statement further read, “After reviewing the available evidence in this case, the Brown County District Attorney’s office is not yet prepared to make a formal charging decision.” 

Jacobs was released without charges on May 27. The reason for this is that attorneys are searching for additional evidence. Accordingly, they would decide what charges are applicable.

However, Josh Jacobs denied the charges in a statement obtained by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. 

“Josh vehemently denies the allegation, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public,” said the statement issued by Jacobs’ attorneys. “We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course.”

Jacobs is still on track to play the 2026 season; he could still face discipline in the form of suspension from the NFL, although the league hasn’t confirmed anything yet. 

Amidst the ongoing investigation, the NFL and the Green Bay Packers issued their statements.

Jacobs was booked on four more misdemeanor counts in addition to the charge of two felonies. The bond amount was set at $1,350.

"We are aware of the report and have been in contact with the club," the NFL said in a statement.

The Brown County District Attorney’s office declined to make any comments as the case investigation remains open and ongoing. 

The Green Bay Packers, who signed Jacobs in 2024 as a free agent, released a statement on the ongoing case. 

“We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs,” read the statement obtained by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero. “As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment.”

The media also approached the Packers' head coach, Matt LaFleur, on Wednesday. The coach replied, saying that he’s going to stick with the team’s statement and let the process play out.
