Lamar Jackson Not Fully Relieved By Myles Garrett Leaving Browns
This June began with a blockbuster trade between the Cleveland Browns and the Los Angeles Rams over star defensive end Myles Garrett. As the NFL gears up to feel the impact of this deal, a two-time MVP quarterback is happy to see him go.
“I'm like, yes. I'm don’t gotta to see him too,” Lamar Jackson joked in a media interaction on June 15. “Shout out to Myles, you know, congratulations on that. But yes, that's awesome.”
The Baltimore Ravens quarterback has taken quite a few hits from Garrett and has always spoken highly of him. Garrett was one of his biggest concerns in the AFC North division.
Garrett, 30, capped his final Browns season by setting the NFL single-season sack record with 23. He won his second Defensive Player of the Year award for the stellar season and is finally able to focus on the ultimate goal: a Super Bowl championship.
Before the 2025 season, Garrett publicly requested a trade, citing his drive to compete for a title. He said his desire wasn’t to go from “Cleveland to Canton.” Although he did, the Pro Football Hall of Fame has put his gear on display.
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won't allow me to be complacent,” he wrote in a February open letter. “With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”
The trade eliminated a major threat to Jackson, but he is now replaced by Jared Verse, who is a force to be reckoned with.
Lamar Jackson Reveals What He Thinks Of The Browns’ New DE
The Baltimore Ravens are done with their OTAs, and Lamar Jackson is fired up for this season. When he talked to the media about the Cleveland Browns’ defensive end, he hinted that Jared Verse would be a concern.
“But then we got the new, we got the other guy from the Rams. Yeah, like he good too. So man, shout out to him,” Lamar Jackson said in an X post shared by the Ravens.
The Los Angeles Rams picked Verse 19th overall in 2024. He appeared in every Rams game.
He recorded 124 total tackles, of which 71 were solo tackles. He recorded 12 sacks and five forced fumbles. In 2025, per PFF, Verse was ranked sixth for total pressure at 80 and second in 20 QB hits.
The DE was unhappy with the move initially, but has stated his mission is to be his best version. What are your thoughts on this development? Tell us in the comments.
