Kyler Murray Presented with 2 Reasons to Sign with Cleveland Browns Over Minnesota Vikings

After that 2025 season, the Cleveland Browns are looking for a quarterback.

Now that Kyler Murray is in free agency, the experts on Afternoon Drive on The Fan think that he could be replacing Shedeur Sanders.

The reports now suggest that Murray is going to the Minnesota Vikings. But Nick Wilson and former Buckeye Dustin Fox have given two reasons why he should be coming to the Browns. They talked about the Browns being a looked-down-upon team, and that is when Fox said:

"Your two ways are we'll actually build an offense around you instead of forcing you to fit into a pre-existing offense. And the second thing is, who do you think you have a better chance of beating out? Shedeur Sanders or JJ McCarthy?"

Free agency is still ongoing, and if the Browns do manage to get Murray, they can definitely build an offense that supports his style of play. And even after the agency, there is the 2026 NFL draft, where the Browns can add some young talent to support the former Cardinals QB.

As the radio hosts said, J.J. McCarthy has been more impressive than Sanders. The Vikings' rookie QB had a passer rating of 72.6 with 1,632 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 10 games in 2025.

Sanders had a passer rating of 68.1 with 1,400 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 8 games. He had a QBR of 18.9, the worst single-season QBR by a Cleveland Browns QB. And what's worse is that the radio hosts believe that Murrey can defeat him easily.

Shedeur Sanders is no competition for Kyler Murray

At least that's what one of the radio hosts believes. He said:

"The biggest selling point, I think, that the Browns would have is that I wouldn't even phrase it as a competition. Yeah. You know, it's like, if you come, if you come to Cleveland, that's, this is your job. You're the week one starter. And that's it,"

Kyler Murray has played 7 seasons for the Cardinals, where he threw for 20,460 yards and scored 121 touchdowns. He was selected to play in 2 Pro Bowls and won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Deshaun Watson is another contender for the QB1 role at the Browns. He has a passer rating of 80.7 with 3,365 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 19 games for the Browns.
