Key Things We Learned From Dallas’ Massive Win Over Chiefs on Thanksgiving

If you were watching the Cowboys-Chiefs game, it felt like the game was settled in the first few minutes. After Dak Prescott threw an interception, with the Chiefs eventually converting it into a touchdown, the momentum seemed to be in the favor of the Chiefs.
But most forgot this was the same Dallas Cowboys team that made a comeback against the Super Bowl Champions last week. In a game filled with touchdowns, let's see what the biggest takeaways are.
Dak Prescott > Patrick Mahomes
People talk about whether Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen are the new Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, but you cannot count out Dak Prescott.
Kicking off the Thanksgiving game, Prescott started off with a pass short right complete to Lamb for 2 yards, which was intercepted by T McDuffie, but after that, the Cowboys QB was flawless.
On the other hand, while Mahomes did not record a single interception, he was sacked three times. Prescott escaped blitzes consistently and punished the Chiefs for sending pressure, while Mahomes didn’t get the ball as often late because of the Cowboys controlling the game.
Prescott finished the game with 320 yards on 27-of-39 passing with two TDs, one INT, and 0 sacks, while Mahomes finished with 261 yards on 23-of-34 passing with 4TDs, no interceptions, but three sacks.

Even if we talk about this season so far, the Cowboys QB has a passer rating of 102.4 with 3,261 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions in 12 games this season, while Mahomes has a passer rating of 96.5 with 3,238 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions in the same number of games.
The Cowboys' Noose Is Tightening
The big problem for the Cowboys before and early November was their defense, because no matter how hard they tried, the points leak would not be sealed. Things were so bad that they were not even in the top 25 of the teams that allowed the fewest points per game.
However, they traded for defensive tackle Quinnen William. In the Thanksgiving game, he had 2 solo tackles and 2 assists, and while the Cowboys' defense was loose when the game began, it only got better.
They held Patrick Mahomes & Co. to 5-of-13 on third downs for the game. The biggest stop was a quick three-and-out in the fourth quarter after Dallas retook the lead, a spot where Mahomes usually answers.
Mahomes Was Left Alone to Engineer a Comeback
If we look at Mahomes' performance alone, this was not a bad game for him at all. As a matter of fact, this was one of his best games of the season and probably even the best in the best few weeks, but Mahomes alone does not make the team, does he?
After two strong opening drives, the offense went cold for four straight possessions, putting all the pressure on Mahomes to create magic. Chiefs receivers dropped multiple passes, killing momentum and leaving Mahomes to repeatedly rescue broken plays, plus K.C. committed 10 penalties for 119 yards, including holding and DPI.
Now the Chiefs will have to win rest of their games if they want to qualify for the playoffs, what do you think? Can they do it?
