Kevin Stefanski Steals OC Tommy Rees from Browns Following Falcons Move
Kevin Stefanski's shadow still looms over Cleveland. The former Browns head coach just made a move that could create a new headache for his old team.
He has just poached their offensive coordinator, Tommy Rees, to take over the same position at the Atlanta Falcons.
Rees replaced Zac Robinson, who left the Falcons to take over a position at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Apart from the new hire, the Falcons have retained three members of the coaching staff: senior defensive assistant Dave Huxtable, assistant offensive line coach Nick Jones and running backs coach Michael Pitre.
Earlier in the week, Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot reported Rees was out of the HC race. "My other little nugget today was the fact that I was told that Tommy, the Browns' offensive coordinator who was the first interview for this job, is not expected to get a second interview."

For the Falcons, Rees might be a key figure in their offense. He joined the Browns in 2024 as their tight end specialist. In that season, the Browns led the league with the most pass attempts. In the same year, David Njoku received 505 yards, and Jordan Akins 390 yards.
He also helped foster young talent while coaching at his Alabama. As offensive coordinator, Rees guided the Crimson Tide to an SEC Championship in his single year with the team.
Apart from Stefanski and Rees, the Falcons have hired other big names to revamp themselves. They picked Bill Callahan, veteran offensive line coach, on Tuesday this week.
While Stefanski and Rees prepare for a new season, Cleveland must now fill another key vacancy.
The Cleveland Browns Are In Hot Water
First, it was the head coach search that had all the attention. Now, another position has been left open. Tommy Rees' exit marks a second change in the Browns coaching staff.
However, it might not be a bad thing. Rees' magic faded in the 2025 season. They ended with only 262.1 scrimmage yards per game. And while QB issues were also part of the problem, the Browns need a fresh start.
Under a new head coach, the Browns can find a coach who fits their offense. Perhaps we can see Shedeur Sanders become a franchise quarterback in the coming season. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
